An Ineos Grenadier has completed a 28,254-mile overland journey spanning more than 60 countries, highlighting the SUV’s off-road capabilities in real-world conditions. The expedition was led by Kenyan driver Becky Kim and co-driver and navigator Bonnie Koko, who traveled from Africa to London over 122 days.
122-Day Journey Crossed More Than 60 Countries
According to Ineos, Becky Kim departed from her home city of Nairobi on February 13 and concluded the expedition in London this past June after 122 days on the road.
Kim and Bonnie Koko covered a total of 28,254 miles during the trip. Ineos said Kim is believed to be the first woman from Kenya to complete a journey from Cape to Cape.
Route Included Some of the World’s Toughest Terrain
The expedition began in eastern Africa before continuing to the continent’s southern cape. The team then traveled north along Africa’s western coastline before continuing the global journey.
During the expedition, the pair drove through challenging environments, including the Kalahari, Namibia, the Sahara Desert, and the icy conditions of the Arctic Circle.
Traditional Navigation and an Unmodified Vehicle
Kim and Koko completed the entire journey without expert intervention and relied on traditional mapping throughout the expedition.
As they entered each country, they added a commemorative flag to the Grenadier’s rear windshield. By the end of the trip, the rear glass displayed flags representing countries including Mozambique, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, the Republic of the Congo, Bulgaria, Greece, Switzerland, and Denmark.
Driver Praises the Ineos Grenadier
Reflecting on the expedition, Kim praised the vehicle’s durability and off-road capability.
“I can truly testify that INEOS has built the Grenadier to last a lifetime of adventure. I like to call it ‘The Wagon of Wonder’. From the BFGoodrich tires to its overall capability, it copes tremendously,” she said.
The Ineos Grenadier used for the expedition remained unmodified throughout the journey, relying on its standard off-road equipment and factory-installed features from start to finish.
