A Tiny Off-Roader With Defender-Inspired Styling
New off-road SUVs have become increasingly expensive. The 2026 Jeep Wrangler starts at $36,035 in its Sport trim, while the base 2026 Ford Bronco starts at $40,795.
The Massimo Motor Mini Truck takes a very different approach. Rather than being a street-legal SUV, it is a small off-road machine that resembles a shrunken Land Rover Defender.
The front end draws inspiration from the classic Defender, with round headlights and a rectangular grille. A small fake hood scoop and an unusually low windshield add to its distinctive appearance.
The Mini Truck is essentially an off-road go-kart, and its design is built around that concept. It currently comes only in tan with a dark stripe along the side. A light blue version similar to a classic Bronco color was previously available, although it is unclear whether additional colors will be offered in the future.
Two Seats and a Spartan Interior
Inside, the Mini Truck keeps things simple. The cabin has room for two people, with waterproof seats equipped with lap belts.
A digital instrument cluster on the passenger side provides basic information. The rest of the interior consists of a three-spoke steering wheel, several buttons and a gearshift.
There are no doors. Instead, metal bars run along the sides and provide minimal occupant protection.
125-cc Engine Sends Power to the Rear Wheels
Despite its small size and appearance, the Mini Truck is powered by a 125-cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine producing 9.0 horsepower.
The engine is paired with a three-speed semi-automatic gearbox with reverse, sending power to the rear wheels. The Mini Truck has a top speed of 28 miles per hour and a one-gallon fuel tank, although the company does not specify its range.
The vehicle does not have four-wheel drive. Instead, it uses a steel frame with double A-arm suspension and coilover shocks, while disc brakes are fitted at all four corners.
Knobby 18-inch tires are fitted to the vehicle to help provide traction on rugged terrain.
The Mini Truck Starts at $2,699
The biggest selling point may be its price. The Massimo Motor Mini Truck starts at $2,699, making it far less expensive than the new Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco mentioned above.
The Mini Truck is available through Tractor Supply Co. stores across the United States. The company has nearly 2,500 stores across the country, giving buyers a chance to find one without necessarily living near a major city.
