Subaru is introducing two limited-run special editions for the U.S. market: the 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 and 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15. Both models pay tribute to the predecessors that first brought the WRX and BRZ to American buyers, adding heritage-inspired styling and several performance-focused upgrades.
2027 Subaru WRX GD25 Marks 25 Years of the WRX in America
The WRX GD25 gets its name from the GD chassis code of the first WRX sold in the U.S. and celebrates 25 years since that 2002 model arrived on American shores.
The special edition will be offered exclusively in World Rally Blue, paired with gold-painted 19-inch alloy wheels. The color combination is traditionally associated with STI models, and the GD25 adds several hardware upgrades beyond the regular WRX tS.
Among them are beefier Brembo brakes with gold calipers, Bridgestone Potenza S007 high-performance tires and a flexible strut tower bar beneath the hood. Stiffer springs and revised damper settings are also intended to improve handling.
The most distinctive addition is a Subaru Tecnica International dry carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing, matching the design used on the WRX ARA25L rally car driven by Travis Pastrana.
WRX GD25 Keeps the Standard 271-HP Engine
Inside, the WRX GD25 features Recaro seats with black Ultrasuede inserts, red contrast stitching and an STI knob on the short shifter.
Despite the additional hardware, the 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine continues to produce 271 horsepower and sends power to all four wheels, the same output as a regular WRX.
Subaru will build only 350 examples of the WRX GD25. Deliveries are expected to begin in summer 2027, while pricing and additional technical details have not yet been disclosed.
The regular 2026 WRX tS starts at just under $45,000, while pricing for the limited-edition GD25 remains unknown.
2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 Gets Its Own Heritage Treatment
The 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 also draws its name from the chassis code of the model that introduced the BRZ to American buyers. The first-generation BRZ arrived in the U.S. in 2012, and the ZC15 commemorates that history with its own special-edition design and equipment.
The BRZ has changed significantly since then, including the adoption of a larger 2.4-liter boxer engine producing 228 horsepower. For the ZC15, Subaru chose an exclusive Ceramic White exterior color paired with uniquely painted bronze wheels.
The bronze theme continues onto decals on the doors, with the overall color scheme referencing the 2020 BRZ tS.
Other exterior and chassis additions include a subtle black spoiler mounted on the trunk and a flexible V-bar in the engine bay.
BRZ ZC15 Adds Unique Interior Details
The BRZ ZC15 also receives an interior created specifically for the special edition. It features black leather with Bordeaux red inserts, an anniversary plaque bearing the ZC15 designation and an aluminum STI short shifter with a leather boot.
Production will be limited to 300 examples, making the BRZ ZC15 even rarer than the WRX GD25.
Subaru has not announced pricing for the ZC15. The regular BRZ tS starts at a little over $38,000, while the special edition is expected to be priced above $40,000. Availability is expected to begin sometime in early 2027.
