Rimac is expanding beyond electric hypercars with a new partnership aimed at powering artificial intelligence infrastructure. The Croatian automaker will work with Ecoblox, a global leader in AI compute infrastructure, to develop power solutions for modular data centers using its advanced electric vehicle battery technology.

The partnership reflects Rimac’s effort to apply its expertise in EV batteries to new markets, as demand for AI computing continues to grow and data centers require increasingly advanced power solutions.

Rimac and Ecoblox Target Modular AI Data Centers

Under the agreement, Rimac will use its experience developing EV batteries to help create power solutions for AI computing centers. The collaboration will focus on Modular Data Centers (MDCs), which are designed to be portable and scalable, unlike traditional permanent facilities that can take longer to build and are not mobile.

The project will integrate Rimac Technology’s UNI battery modules into the modular data center infrastructure. The modules are designed to simplify servicing and provide longer periods of continuous backup power for critical hardware.

They also feature a Battery Management System (BMS) that enables real-time monitoring and control while transmitting telemetry and data directly to Ecoblox.

First Demonstration Planned for November 2026

Rimac and Ecoblox plan to build and launch their first Modular Data Center at the Rimac Campus in Zagreb, Croatia. The project has a target completion date of November 2026.

The facility will serve as a live demonstration of the companies’ joint solution and provide a platform for engagement with customers and partners.

Rimac Extends Battery Technology Beyond Hypercars

Rimac’s UNI battery modules are expected to play a key role in making the data centers portable, thanks to their compact packaging and suitability for multiple applications.

The modules are primarily used in Rimac’s hypercars and were developed with integrated safety features and advanced thermal management systems. The company has also partnered with other stakeholders to expand their use beyond automotive applications, including energy storage, marine, off-highway, commercial and industrial sectors.

The move into AI infrastructure provides another application for technology developed to meet the demanding requirements of high-performance electric vehicles.

Rimac Highlights Power, Safety and Reliability

Rimac Technology CEO Nurdin Pitarević said the company’s battery and power electronics technologies were developed and industrialized to meet demanding automotive requirements, capabilities he said are increasingly relevant to AI infrastructure.

“Our battery and power electronics technologies have been developed and industrialized to meet some of the most demanding requirements in the automotive industry. The same capabilities are increasingly relevant to high-power AI infrastructure, where power density, thermal management, safety, and reliability are critical. Together with ECOBLOX, we are applying these technologies to a new high-power application and bringing automotive-grade technology to AI data centers.”

Through its partnership with Ecoblox, Rimac is bringing its battery expertise into modular AI data center infrastructure, with the first joint facility planned for its Zagreb campus by November 2026.
