Porsche is preparing to unveil a new hypercar concept, the Mission S, on October 15, 2026, following weeks of hints and reports. The announcement comes shortly after the company outlined its Sports Car Company 2035 turnaround plans, with the limited-run hypercar expected to play a role in generating more revenue for the brand.
Although Porsche has traditionally introduced at least one hypercar every decade since the 1980s, the wait between the latest teaser and the full reveal has been unusually short. Just one week separates the teaser from the scheduled unveiling.
Porsche Mission S Concept Nears Its Debut
The Mission S concept is scheduled to make its debut on October 15, 2026. With the reveal only hours away, an alleged photo leak has offered an early look at the car’s possible design.
The Supercar Blog reported finding the image, which likely originated from the Pistonheads forums. The vehicle remains covered in the photograph, so the image does not provide a complete look at the concept.
Even so, the silhouette suggests a very low-slung, mid-engined car. The vehicle also appears to have a fixed roof, potentially marking a departure from the detachable tops featured on the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder.
No prominent rear wing is visible in the leaked image, although the car could feature a deployable spoiler. The official reveal is expected to provide a clearer look at the concept’s design.
What Is Known About the Porsche Hypercar?
Mission S is believed to be a concept name rather than the final name of the production model. Trademark databases have not yet revealed any notable information about a potential production name.
Porsche has confirmed that the new hypercar will be combustion-powered. However, the car is also likely to incorporate some form of electrification, following an approach similar to that used in the 918 Spyder.
V8 or Flat-8 Engine Could Power the New Hypercar
The engine remains one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding Porsche’s upcoming hypercar. Reports have pointed to either a V8 or a flat-8 engine, with the latter representing a particularly notable possibility.
If Porsche chooses a flat-8, the Mission S could mark the company’s first use of that engine configuration in more than 50 years. The last Porsche model powered by a flat-8 was the 908.
The new hypercar could also pair a flat-8 engine with a hybrid system for the first time. However, the engine configuration and any electrification details have yet to be fully disclosed.
Possible 911-Based Platform
The Mission S is reportedly based on a heavily modified version of the Porsche 911 chassis. If that information proves accurate, the hypercar would follow a different approach from the bespoke platforms used for the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder.
Instead, its underpinnings would be more in line with the Porsche 959 and GT1. The platform details remain unconfirmed, however, and further information is expected as the concept makes its official debut.
Production Version Remains Unconfirmed
The October 15 unveiling will introduce the Mission S as a concept rather than a confirmed production vehicle. The road-going version is expected to remain close to the concept’s design, although its final specifications and appearance have not yet been revealed.
Porsche’s upcoming hypercar is also expected to follow the brand’s established limited-production approach, with a high price tag. More details about the car’s design, powertrain and production plans are expected with the official reveal.
