The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme may be in development, with new spy photos revealing a radically redesigned electric sedan featuring an enormous rear wing, revised aerodynamic components and aggressive fender vents. The prototype, spotted by CarBuzz photographers, appears to build on the already powerful Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which produces 1,526 horsepower. Although Xiaomi has not confirmed the car’s identity or specifications, the extensive aerodynamic changes suggest a more track-focused version could be in the works.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme Prototype Gets Extreme Aerodynamics

Xiaomi’s SU7 began as a relatively conventional four-door sedan when it was introduced in 2023. By late 2024, however, the company’s engineers had transformed the model into a much more aggressive performance machine. The latest prototype suggests Xiaomi may be preparing another substantial evolution.

The most striking feature is a massive dual-element rear wing that dwarfs the single-plane wing fitted to the existing SU7 Ultra. The new design uses gooseneck-style hinges intended to improve downforce, while the camouflage covering the trunk lid appears to conceal a Gurney flap.

The rear diffuser has also been redesigned. Although it looks less aggressive than the diffuser on the previous Ultra prototype, the new component is wider, suggesting a different approach to managing airflow beneath and around the rear of the car.

Additional cutouts behind the rear tires allow air to escape from the wheel arches. That airflow is then directed over a small rear splitter, helping manage the air as it moves around the back of the vehicle.

New Front Splitter and Larger Hood Vents

The prototype’s front end features a redesigned splitter that extends farther outward than the one seen on the earlier version. Its end plates are also taller and more aggressive, with additional aerodynamic elements incorporated into their design.

The hood vents appear to have grown larger and moved farther forward. Channels designed to guide air from the front of the car over the windshield are also deeper and extend farther toward the rear.

These changes accompany some of the prototype’s most distinctive details: large fender vents resembling those found on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The openings are designed to release high-pressure air trapped inside the front wheel arches, which can contribute to front-end lift.

The fender vents also help improve stability and release heat from the car’s oversized brakes. Together with the revised splitter, hood vents and rear wing, they point to an extensive aerodynamic overhaul.

Covered Brake Logos Add to the Mystery

The prototype’s braking hardware provides another clue to the development work underway, although its exact specifications remain unknown. Logos on the brakes have been covered, and the wheel centers are concealed as well.

Those details add to the uncertainty surrounding the car’s identity and equipment. Xiaomi has not publicly confirmed the prototype’s name, power output or final production configuration.

Could This Be the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme?

CarBuzz’s spy photographers believe the prototype could be the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Extreme, a potentially more performance-focused version of the four-door electric sedan.

The existing Xiaomi SU7 Ultra uses three Xiaomi-designed electric motors that deliver a combined 1,526 horsepower. It remains unclear whether the new prototype will produce more power, as no updated output figures have been revealed.

One possible route to higher output would be replacing the front motor with a unit matching the rear motors. According to the figures provided, that change alone could increase total output by 184 horsepower, bringing the combined figure to 1,710 horsepower.

For now, the prototype’s identity and performance specifications remain unconfirmed. Its extensive aerodynamic revisions, including the enormous dual-element rear wing, redesigned diffuser and prominent fender vents, distinguish it from the existing SU7 Ultra and suggest Xiaomi is exploring an even more aggressive version of its electric performance sedan.
