The 2027 Lexus NX is going hybrid-only in the U.S., with upgraded powertrains, improved efficiency, revised styling and a more technology-focused interior. Following its global debut just over a month ago, the American-market model will offer two electrified options: the NX 350h hybrid and the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid.

Both versions receive powertrain updates, revised suspension and steering components, and improvements designed to enhance ride comfort and handling. The lineup has also been simplified to four grades: Premium, Premium+, F SPORT and Luxury, with drivetrain availability varying by trim.

2027 Lexus NX Hybrid Power and Efficiency

The 2027 Lexus NX 350h uses an updated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with electric motors to deliver a preliminary combined output of 244 horsepower. That represents a 4-horsepower increase over the outgoing model.

The revised hybrid system uses more electric motor assistance during acceleration, helping deliver smoother power and a more natural relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed.

The NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid receives a more substantial power increase. Its front motor generator now produces 203 horsepower, up from 180 horsepower, while total system output rises to 324 horsepower.

A revised lithium-ion battery increases both output and capacity by 8%. The plug-in hybrid is estimated to travel up to 45 miles on electric power alone, depending on the trim level.

2027 Lexus NX Fuel Economy and Electric Range

The regular NX 350h receives updated fuel economy estimates. The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 44 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg combined, based on manufacturer estimates.

The all-wheel-drive NX 350h is estimated to return 42 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and 38 mpg combined. The NX 350h F SPORT AWD is rated at 41 mpg city, 34 mpg highway and 38 mpg combined.

The NX 450h+ is estimated to deliver 39 mpg city, 35 mpg highway and 37 mpg combined. The NX 450h+ F SPORT AWD is rated at 38 mpg city, 34 mpg highway and 36 mpg combined. Both plug-in hybrid versions have an estimated electric driving range of 45 miles.

Official EPA fuel economy figures will be released closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date.

NX 450h+ Adds Standard DC Fast Charging

The 2027 Lexus NX 450h+ comes with standard DC fast charging and a North American Charging Standard-style charge port. Under ideal conditions, charging from 10% to 80% is estimated to take 35 minutes using a 50-kilowatt DC charger.

The updated battery and charging equipment complement the plug-in hybrid’s increased power output and estimated 45-mile electric range.

Updated Exterior Styling and a Redesigned Interior

The 2027 NX retains its familiar overall shape but receives several exterior changes, including a revised mesh grille, darker trim accents and redesigned lighting.

At the rear, the crossover introduces a Double L Signature lighting treatment featuring illuminated L-shaped elements and an illuminated Lexus logo. New exterior color options include Shaded Ivy and Incognito, with Incognito exclusive to F SPORT grades.

The cabin features a more horizontal dashboard, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a centrally positioned 14-inch touchscreen. Other updates include a new steering wheel, revised controls and additional interior color options.

Engine noise inside the cabin has been reduced by 20% compared with the previous model. Additional sound insulation and structural changes are designed to create a quieter driving environment.

More Technology and Updated Safety Features

The 2027 Lexus NX comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an integrated Drive Recorder and over-the-air updates for the Lexus Interface infotainment system.

Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is also standard across the lineup, bringing updated driver-assistance features to all grades.

The F SPORT and Luxury grades additionally feature Sensory Concierge, which coordinates lighting, sound, climate settings, seat temperature and fragrance to personalize the cabin atmosphere.

Revised Suspension and Steering Aim to Improve Comfort

The NX receives revised suspension, steering and braking systems designed to improve ride comfort and handling. Structural reinforcements are also intended to reduce road noise and help the crossover feel more composed across different road surfaces.

These chassis updates accompany the revised hybrid systems, with both versions receiving changes intended to make the crossover smoother and more responsive to drive.

2027 Lexus NX Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the 2027 Lexus NX has not been announced. Additional details about trim levels and official EPA fuel economy figures will be released closer to launch.

The NX 350h will be assembled in Canada and Japan, while the NX 450h+ will be built in Japan.

The 2027 Lexus NX lineup will consist entirely of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in the U.S. Buyers will be able to choose between the NX 350h’s conventional hybrid system and the more powerful NX 450h+, which delivers 324 horsepower and an estimated 45 miles of electric driving range.
