Ram has officially announced pricing for the 2027 ProMaster City, with the midsize van returning to the Ram Professional lineup as one of the most affordable options in its segment. Arriving in early 2027, the entry-level Tradesman Cargo starts at $37,400, or $39,995 including the mandatory $2,595 destination charge.

2027 Ram ProMaster City Pricing and Configurations

By keeping the base price below $40,000, Ram is positioning the 2027 ProMaster City around affordability as rising acquisition costs continue to put financial pressure on small business fleets.

The ProMaster City will be offered in Tradesman and SLT trims, with buyers able to choose between a cargo van and a five- to eight-passenger wagon. Ram offers 11 distinct configurations, including rear swing doors or a segment-exclusive liftgate, filling the gap left by departing compact vans.

Moving to the SLT trim brings additional equipment, including 17-inch dual-tone aluminum wheels, fog lamps, a wireless phone charger and a heated steering wheel.

Performance, Payload and Cargo Capacity

Built on a Stellantis commercial vehicle platform, the 2027 ProMaster City uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 166 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

Despite its midsize dimensions, the van has a targeted payload capacity exceeding 2,000 pounds and can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.

The vehicle stands under 80 inches tall, allowing it to access standard commercial parking structures while providing 167 cubic feet of cargo space. The cargo area includes a 111-inch load floor and 54 inches of cargo height.

Standard Technology and Safety Features

Inside, the 2027 Ram ProMaster City comes with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A digital rearview mirror is also included as standard equipment.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert and ParkSense rear parking sensors.

Ram Focuses on Affordable Commercial Buyers

Ram’s sub-$40,000 pricing strategy gives the ProMaster City a distinct position as competing manufacturers restructure their commercial vehicle offerings. Some rivals use overseas manufacturing partnerships, including foreign-sourced electric vans that can carry higher price tags and different maintenance requirements for domestic fleet operators.

Larger full-size vans have also faced recent scrutiny involving specialized upfits and mechanical reliability, as highlighted by recent Transit lawsuits.

With its factory-engineered midsize design, more than 2,000 pounds of targeted payload capacity, ability to fit into standard commercial parking structures and low starting price, the 2027 Ram ProMaster City is positioned as a straightforward option for commercial buyers focused on value.
