The 2027 Range Rover Electric has officially arrived as the first-ever fully electric Range Rover, combining the luxury SUV’s familiar design and off-road capability with electric power. JLR says the model sets new standards for the brand in torque and engineering, with 330 patent applications filed as part of its development.

2027 Range Rover Electric Delivers 542 HP and 627 LB-FT

The Range Rover Electric uses two permanent-magnet 260 kW electric motors, with one mounted on each axle. Silicon carbide semiconductors help the motors produce a combined 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Range Rover in terms of torque and 20 percent higher than others of the same size.

Power delivery is managed by the Integrated Traction Management system, which controls motor speed within 50 milliseconds and manages wheel slip up to 100 times quicker than a combustion drivetrain could.

That system also supports the SUV’s off-road capabilities. In Single Pedal mode, the Range Rover Electric can crawl up 33-degree inclines, while a rolling start allows it to tackle slopes of up to 45 degrees.

Its maximum wading depth is up to 35 inches, matching gas-powered Range Rovers. The 118.5kWh usable battery uses 344 prismatic cells housed inside a high-strength aluminum enclosure and sits within the same architecture as a gas Range Rover.

Range Rover Electric Testing Covered 900,000 Miles

Range Rover says the Electric underwent more than 900,000 miles and more than a quarter of a million hours of real-life and virtual testing, respectively. The 900,000-mile figure is equivalent to driving around the world 38 times.

Testing was conducted in temperatures ranging from -40°F to +194°F. The battery enclosure is designed to withstand rock scrapes and high-impact knocks as part of the vehicle’s development for demanding conditions.

2027 Range Rover Electric Offers Up to 333 Miles of Range

The 800-volt electrical system features split-charging and heat-management technology, with estimated range of up to 333 miles on the EPA’s evaluation cycle. The Range Rover Electric also uses an NACS port, giving owners access to Tesla Supercharger stations.

On a DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10 percent to 80 percent in roughly 22 minutes. A 10-minute charge can provide enough energy for 125 miles of driving.

The new Range Rover App can optimize overnight charging to take advantage of lower charging rates. It also provides remote access to features including the heated steering wheel and cabin purification system, along with lock status, live location and predicted driving range.

Performance is also a priority. The Range Rover Electric can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, while its 50-to-75-mph acceleration takes as little as 2.7 seconds.

Range Rover Electric Keeps the Familiar SUV Design

Visually, the Electric stays close to the established Range Rover formula rather than adopting an overtly unusual appearance. Exterior differences include a sleeker grille, depending on the market, the absence of exhaust tips and SV-exclusive 22-inch wheels.

The cabin also retains a familiar design, featuring a large central screen, physical shifter, single center-console volume knob and leather upholstery. The interior includes scroll wheels, haptic buttons and gloss-black plastics across multiple touchpoints.

2027 Range Rover Electric Pricing and First Edition Models

The 2027 Range Rover Electric starts at an MSRP of $138,000, considerably above the $113,000 starting price of a base Range Rover SE.

First Edition models will be offered in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue, along with new Light Clout Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat textiles. Bespoke services will also be available.

Orders for the Range Rover Electric are now open.

Autoblog’s Take on the Range Rover Electric

The first-ever electric Range Rover represents a major step for a legacy automaker, and the approach taken with the Electric focuses on maintaining the brand’s established identity rather than radically changing it.

According to Autoblog’s take, the model’s combination of off-road capability, familiar styling and electric propulsion could appeal to buyers who want traditional Range Rover elegance and luxury without giving up the characteristics associated with the brand.

The publication also notes that the Electric may involve compromises in areas such as cargo space, which remains TBD, and tire wear. At the same time, buyers seeking a more radically styled alternative are expected to have another option soon.

For now, the 2027 Range Rover Electric pairs 542 horsepower, 627 lb-ft of torque, up to 333 miles of estimated EPA-cycle range and familiar Range Rover styling in JLR’s first fully electric Range Rover.
