The 2027 Ram Chassis Cab is getting a factory appearance package that brings black-painted wheels, black badging and body-colored exterior elements to the Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500. The Night Edition gives these commercial-focused trucks a more customized appearance while keeping their work-oriented capabilities unchanged.
The Night Edition Changes the Look, Not the Mission
The Chassis Cab Night Edition follows the same basic design approach used elsewhere in the Ram lineup, replacing chrome and bright exterior trim with darker details.
The package includes a Sport Performance hood, black-painted wheels, black badging and dark headlight bezels. The grille surround, front bumper and fender flares receive body-color finishes, while ParkSense front and rear park assist is also included.
Ram says the package is intended for Chassis Cab owners and commercial customers who want a workhorse with a more distinctive road presence. The company describes the appearance as an extension of the customer’s business rather than another mechanical upgrade.
Night Edition Available on Three Chassis Cab Models
The Night Edition will be offered on the Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab models. Big Horn buyers will pay $3,595 for the package when their truck is equipped with the Level 1 or Level 2 Equipment Group, while the price is $3,045 on Laramie models.
Both regular-cab and crew-cab configurations are eligible. Ram plans to open the order books during the fourth quarter of 2026, with deliveries starting later this year. The package will also make a public appearance at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.
The Cummins Still Produces 800 lb-ft of Torque
Because the Night Edition is a cosmetic package, it does not bring any powertrain changes. The 2027 Chassis Cab lineup offers a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 producing 375 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, or a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six producing 60 hp and 800 lb-ft.
Both engines are paired with a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission with an electronic column shifter.
Capability varies significantly across the three Chassis Cab models. A Ram 3500 Chassis Cab equipped with the Cummins can tow up to 25,590 pounds and carry up to 6,830 pounds of payload. The Ram 4500 increases those figures to 29,400 pounds of maximum towing and 8,420 pounds of payload.
At the top of the lineup, the Ram 5500 with the Cummins is rated to tow up to 34,540 pounds and carry up to 11,490 pounds of payload. Its maximum gross combined weight rating is 43,000 pounds.
Built for Commercial Upfits
Beneath the Night Edition’s styling changes, the Chassis Cab remains built around commercial applications. Ram offers four frame lengths measured from the cab to the rear axle: 60, 84, 108 and 120 inches.
The frame rails are spaced 34 inches apart, while the 2027 frame uses up to 97 percent high-strength steel and eight separate cross members. At the rear, the frame features a C-channel design with a flat mounting surface.
Ram also leaves the area above the frame rails free of components to provide room for upfit and accessory installation. Pre-drilled holes are positioned throughout the frame to help route upfit lines or mount hardware.
That commercial-focused foundation remains unchanged by the Night Edition. The package adds a more distinctive visual treatment to the Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab while retaining the core work-focused design underneath.
