The Mercedes-Benz C 300 4Matic Electric is now available to order in Germany, with a starting price of €62,951 including VAT, or roughly $73,000 at current exchange rates. The new model sits below the C 400 as the more accessible entry point in Mercedes-Benz’s electric C-Class lineup.
What the C 300 Electric Offers
The C 300 4Matic Electric uses an 85-kWh usable battery pack, compared with the 94-kWh unit in the C 400. Its WLTP-rated range reaches 429 miles, while the C 400 is rated for 473 miles.
The C 300 produces 416 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. That is a step below the C 400, which produces 483 hp and completes the same sprint in 4.0 seconds.
Both models come with all-wheel drive as standard. The C 300 also retains the 800-volt electrical architecture, with DC fast charging of up to 320 kW capable of adding 180 miles of range in 10 minutes.
More Than a Lower-Priced C 400
Despite its lower price and reduced output, the C 300 shares much of its equipment and design with the more expensive C 400. Both feature the same coupe-like silhouette and MBUX Hyperscreen dashboard.
Optional equipment includes Airmatic air suspension and rear-axle steering. Early passenger-seat impressions of the C 400 described it as a docile, refined cruiser rather than a sport sedan, a character that should largely carry over to the less powerful C 300.
No U.S. Launch Date Yet
The C 300 4Matic Electric is currently a German-market offering, and Mercedes-Benz has not announced a U.S. launch date. The C 400 also has no confirmed U.S. launch date.
The situation follows a similar pattern for BMW’s competing i3 sedan. Both automakers are competing in the compact electric luxury sedan segment in Europe while American buyers currently have no comparable model from either brand.
For now, the Mercedes-Benz C 300 4Matic Electric remains available to order in Germany, where its €62,951 starting price positions it below the C 400.
