BMW iX3 buyers in the United States may not have to wait until September 25 for their vehicles. BMW has reportedly moved up the retail launch of the new electric SUV, allowing some dealers to sell and deliver the iX3 50 xDrive beginning September 16.
BMW iX3 Deliveries Can Begin Early
A Bimmerpost forum member shared what they described as a September 15 notice sent to BMW dealers. According to the post, BMW of North America accelerated the retail launch of the iX3 50 xDrive, likely because of strong customer demand.
The notice reportedly states that dealers can sell and deliver the electric SUV starting Wednesday, September 16, which is nine days earlier than the previously expected September 25 date.
That does not mean every U.S. buyer can pick up an iX3 immediately. The forum member said their vehicle had reached a California port a few days before the notice, while another commenter said their Nashville dealer did not yet have any vehicles available.
Delivery timing still depends on where each vehicle is located and when its dealer has it ready. BMW has not publicly confirmed the change, although sales staff have reported that “pre-orders are coming in.”
2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive Brings Neue Klasse Technology
The U.S. launch begins with the 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive. Its two motors produce 463 horsepower, while BMW quotes a 4.7-second zero-to-60-mph time.
Pricing starts at $61,500 before a $1,350 destination charge. The SUV offers up to 434 miles of EPA-estimated range, while its 800-volt electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 400 kW.
BMW says a suitable charger can add as much as 231 miles of range in about 10 minutes.
Why the iX3 Launch Matters to BMW
The early launch comes as the iX3 introduces Neue Klasse technology to U.S. customers, including BMW Panoramic iDrive and the brand’s latest electric drive system.
The iX3 has already reached other markets, with some deliveries occurring as early as March 2026. However, the model remains new to U.S. customers.
A first drive found that the changes extend beyond the specification sheet and also appear in the driving experience.
BMW Reports Strong iX3 Demand
Demand for the iX3 has been steady elsewhere, prompting BMW to add a third production shift to keep up with sales.
BMW recently claimed that the iX3 generated 100,000 orders in Europe within its first year on sale. The automaker also said that every third BMW EV order in Europe is now a BMW iX3.
A recent independent range test provided another reason for buyers to pay attention to the electric SUV. With some U.S. vehicles already ready for delivery, American customers may now have the opportunity to experience the iX3 sooner than the previously expected September 25 launch date.
