2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Revealed: A Bold Leap into the Future

The third-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has arrived, marking a new era for the German automaker’s entry-level model. Blending cutting-edge EV technology with unmistakable Mercedes-Benz design cues, the 2026 CLA promises to be both a showstopper and a pioneer.

Sleek, Star-Studded Design

First previewed as a concept in 2023, the new CLA stays true to its sleek, curvaceous roots. Up front, a lightbar spans the width of the car, connecting two striking headlights, while the faux grille dazzles with illuminated stars inspired by the iconic Mercedes-Benz logo — which itself glows proudly. Opt for the Multibeam LED headlights, and you’ll get three-pointed-star-shaped DRLs, ensuring instant brand recognition.

The rear echoes this theme with taillights connected by an LED-filled lightbar and more star-shaped elements. New exclusive paint colors, Liquid Crystal Green and Sky Blue Metallic, further elevate the CLA’s curb appeal.

Bigger, Bolder, and More Practical

At 185.9 inches long, the new CLA is about 1.6 inches longer than its predecessor, creating more room for passengers and cargo. The trunk now offers 14.3 cubic feet of storage, complemented by the return of the frunk, providing an additional 2.5 cubic feet of space.

Trim Levels: Progressive Line and AMG Line

Mercedes-Benz offers two distinct trims for the CLA: Progressive Line and AMG Line.

Progressive Line comes generously equipped with features like:

  • LED headlights
  • Power folding and heated exterior mirrors
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Power comfort seats in MB-Tex with seat heating and 4-way lumbar support
  • THERMATIC single-zone climate control
  • Four 100-watt USB-C charging ports

AMG Line ups the ante with:

  • 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Sportier front and rear bumpers
  • Leather “super-sports” steering wheel
  • Red contrast stitching
  • AMG sports pedals in brushed stainless steel

For those craving even more sportiness, the AMG Line Plus adds:

  • High-gloss black rear spoiler
  • Illuminated high-gloss black door sills
  • Red MANUFAKTUR seat belts
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Night Package, blacking out exterior trim elements

High-Tech Haven

Step inside, and you’re greeted by Mercedes’ new “Superscreen” — a trio of screens stretching across the dashboard. The driver enjoys a 10.3-inch instrument display and a 14-inch center touchscreen, while the front passenger gets a 14-inch screen of their own.

The CLA debuts MB.OS, Mercedes’ proprietary operating system, and boasts real-time graphics powered by the Unity Game Engine. Entertainment is next-level with streaming services like Disney+ and gaming through Sony’s RIDEVU, powered by cloud-gaming provider Boosteroid.

The sound experience is equally impressive, courtesy of the 16-speaker Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos technology and an 850-watt amplifier.

However, in typical modern luxury car fashion, physical buttons are scarce. Even the volume control relies on a touch slider or steering wheel touch-sensitive button.

Intelligent and Emotionally Aware

The MBUX Virtual Assistant adds a touch of AI magic, using ChatGPT-4o, Google Gemini for navigation, and even Microsoft Bing for web searches. It can reportedly recognize the speaker’s emotions during conversations and “respond accordingly.”

Power and Performance

Under the hood (and floor), the new CLA utilizes an 800-volt architecture for charging speeds up to 320 kW. The 85.0-kWh battery delivers up to 492 miles of range in the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology, producing 268 hp.

For more punch, the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology offers 349 hp and can hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. It also features a 107-hp front motor that activates only when extra power is needed, reducing parasitic drag by 90%.

Hybrid lovers, rejoice: A hybrid CLA is in the works, pairing a 1.5-liter Miller-cycle four-cylinder engine with a 27-hp electric motor and a 1.3-kWh battery. It promises up to 60 mph of electric-only coasting and energy recuperation across all four gears.

Arrival and Availability

The all-electric 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology are expected to hit U.S. dealerships later this year. Whether you opt for the sleek EV or the upcoming hybrid, the new CLA proudly upholds the Mercedes-Benz legacy of blending luxury, technology, and performance.

Model Power Output 0-60 mph Range (CLA 250+)
CLA 250+ with EQ Tech 268 hp N/A 492 miles
CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Tech 349 hp 4.8 sec N/A
