South Africa has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest display of supercars and hypercars after 243 qualifying vehicles gathered at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on July 19, 2026. The milestone was achieved during the Supercar Rhino Run, an event that also raised funds to support rhino conservation efforts.
Kyalami Breaks the Guinness World Record
The record-setting event took place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, where an extraordinary lineup of exotic vehicles assembled to establish the world’s largest display of supercars and hypercars.
The Supercar Rhino Run was organized by the Ferris Hope Foundation in support of Rhino Connect. Before arriving at Kyalami, hundreds of exotic vehicles gathered at FNB Stadium and then traveled to the circuit in a police-escorted convoy.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Mbali Nkosi verified every eligible vehicle. Although many cars participated, 243 met all qualifying requirements, surpassing the previous record of 179 vehicles.
The earlier benchmark had been established by Gumball 3000 and Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism on September 17, 2024.
Rare Supercars Filled the Circuit
The record-breaking display featured an extensive collection of rare and high-performance vehicles from leading automotive brands.
Among the standout attractions was Africa’s only Lamborghini Murciélago SV. The lineup also included a Lamborghini Countach, several Lamborghini Temerarios, a Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series, an Audi R8 GT, a Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R, a Noble M12, a Ferrari 250 SWB, and a track-focused McLaren 620R.
The event also showcased a large collection of Porsche models, ranging from standard 911 Carrera variants to multiple GT3 RS models, along with a bespoke TechArt GTstreet RS.
Strict Guinness World Record Requirements
While internationally recognized automotive events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed regularly feature hundreds of supercars, the report notes that none has attempted this specific Guinness World Record.
One of the key requirements is that every qualifying vehicle must be parked together within a single display area, making the challenge significantly more demanding than simply gathering a large number of exotic cars.
Record Attempt Supports Rhino Conservation
Beyond setting a Guinness World Record, the Supercar Rhino Run was held to raise money for rhino conservation.
Funds generated through the event will support Rhino Connect’s efforts to protect South Africa’s rhino population while assisting communities affected by poaching.
The event combined a charitable mission with one of the country’s largest displays of automotive excellence. With the new Guinness World Record now standing at 243 qualifying supercars and hypercars, any future record attempt will require more than a quarter of a thousand qualifying vehicles.
