McLaren Automotive is entering a new chapter under its new ownership, backed by a £500 million ($667 million) cash injection that will support a second UK factory and the launch of new vehicles, including the brand’s first-ever SUV. Before those products arrive, McLaren is introducing a refreshed identity designed to connect its past, present and future.

McLaren Unveils Refreshed Brand Identity

The new brand identity spans both McLaren Automotive, the company’s car-making business, and McLaren Racing, its motorsport business. The company says the updated identity is rooted in the vision of founder Bruce McLaren and provides a clearer, more unified expression as McLaren expands its community, experiences and personalization.

At the center of the redesign is a new McLaren wordmark featuring a dot beneath the letter “c.” The detail is inspired by the sign above Bruce McLaren’s family Service Station in Remuera, Auckland.

The garage was owned by Bruce McLaren’s parents, Les and Ruth McLaren, and was where Bruce built the car that took him to his first racing victory.

McLaren says recreating that identity for the modern era reconnects the company with its origins while establishing a confident visual language for the future. The minimalist wordmark will appear on McLaren cars, merchandise and digital channels going forward.

McLaren Keeps Its Speedmark

McLaren is retaining the “Speedmark” motif associated with its current logo, but the symbol will no longer have the same prominence as the wordmark.

The Speedmark remains an important part of the brand’s identity and represents continuity. McLaren will also retain its signature Papaya orange and the Speed Kiwi symbol, which honors Bruce McLaren’s New Zealand roots.

Papaya Orange is now joined by an expanded color palette inspired by pivotal moments in McLaren’s history.

New Identity Marks McLaren’s Next Chapter

“It’s a reflection of the journey we are on as a company. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for McLaren, giving a physical expression to the ambition, creativity and forward momentum that is shaping our future,” said McLaren Automotive Chief Creative Officer David Woodhouse.

The rebranding follows a series of storytelling moments throughout 2026 focused on McLaren’s origins and the ideas shaping its future.

Those moments include the celebration of the M6GT as the earliest expression of Bruce McLaren’s road car vision and the reveal of the McL 6GT, a contemporary expression of McLaren design and performance inspired by the M6GT.

McLaren Prepares for Expansion

The refreshed identity comes after major ownership and restructuring changes at McLaren Automotive, led by its acquisition by Abu Dhabi-backed CYVN Holdings.

Under the new ownership, McLaren has received £500 million ($667 million) to support manufacturing expansion, including a second factory in the UK, as well as the development and launch of new vehicles.

The company’s planned expansion includes its first-ever SUV, marking another step in McLaren’s new chapter as its updated identity brings together the brand’s history and its plans for the future.
