The Lamborghini Temerario may be only at the beginning of its model lineup, with Lamborghini considering a broader range of derivatives made possible by the car’s architecture and hybrid powertrain. While only a Spyder has been spotted testing, the automaker has discussed off-road, track-focused, puristic and fun road-going possibilities.
Temerario Architecture Designed for More Variants
The Lamborghini Temerario was unveiled in mid-2024, but it does not yet have any road-going derivatives. A Spyder variant was spotted testing at the Nürburgring in Germany earlier this year, suggesting the lineup could eventually expand.
What distinguishes the Temerario from its predecessors, the Huracán and Gallardo, is its architecture. According to Lamborghini product line director Paolo Racchetti, the platform was specifically designed to support more diverse interpretations.
Racchetti did not provide full details but said Lamborghini is considering derivatives that could include off-road, track-focused, puristic and fun road-going models.
Could Lamborghini Build Another Off-Road Supercar?
An off-road Temerario could be one of the most distinctive possibilities. Lamborghini previously introduced the Huracán Sterrato, a trail-ready supercar that was viewed as an alternative to the Porsche 911 Dakar.
Despite the competition in this niche, Racchetti told CarExpert that an off-road model is something “only Lamborghini can do.”
Racchetti also highlighted the flexibility of the Temerario’s plug-in hybrid powertrain without providing further details. Potential changes could involve the V8, the electric system, or both to create different derivatives.
Lamborghini has already demonstrated how much the powertrain architecture can be altered for specific applications. In the Temerario GT3, the automaker removed the hybrid system to comply with GT3 regulations.
Temerario Powertrain Leaves Room for More Power
The Temerario uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 combined with a tri-motor setup to produce 907 horsepower. The architecture could potentially support output beyond 1,000 horsepower, although no such Temerario variant has been confirmed.
The Audi Nuvolari, which shares the Temerario’s powertrain architecture, already produces 1,001 PS, or approximately 987 hp.
Despite the range of possibilities discussed by Racchetti, only the Spyder has been confirmed as a development vehicle as of this writing. Asked about a possible Sterrato model, he said, “I’m not saying we are planning to do that, but I’m not excluding that it could happen again.”
More Temerario Derivatives Could Target Different Buyers
Expanding the Temerario lineup would demonstrate the flexibility and capabilities of its architecture while allowing Lamborghini to target different audiences in the entry-level supercar segment, where models such as the Ferrari 296 GTB compete.
A Spyder could appeal to buyers willing to compromise some performance for an open-air driving experience. Meanwhile, an STO-esque derivative could target those seeking a track-ready model that remains suitable for public roads.
The Huracán’s 14 derivatives could offer clues about how Lamborghini might expand the Temerario lineup, although the hybrid system could allow for an even broader range of possibilities.
