The higher fuel costs are also weighing on demand for diesel-powered vehicles, prompting GM, Ford and Ram to offer significant discounts on their HD pickups.
For buyers who can make the numbers work, those incentives could reduce the upfront cost of a diesel truck while fuel prices remain elevated.
Ford Offers Up to $6,000 Off Super Duty Diesels
According to CarsDirect, Ford is offering several discounts on its diesel-powered Super Duty pickups, including the F-250, F-350 and F-450. The source does not specify which configurations qualify, although the offers are likely to apply to models equipped with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8.
The discounts reach up to $6,000, taking a substantial amount off the truck’s price. The Power Stroke V8 costs $11,495, while the high-output version costs $13,495. Ford is also offering a $2,000 bonus for choosing diesel.
These offers apply to 2026 models, while the 2027 model year brings a couple of notable updates.
GM Discounts Sierra HD and Silverado HD
GM is also offering incentives on the 2026 GMC Sierra HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD. The offers do not apply to the fully redesigned 2027 versions.
For the GMC Sierra HD Denali, buyers can receive $3,500 off the truck. Choosing the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel adds $9,990 to the price, making the discount particularly relevant for buyers considering the diesel option.
Chevrolet is offering $4,500 off the Silverado HD 2500HD LTZ and Custom trims. The diesel model also receives a $3,500 discount.
The Silverado HD uses the same 6.6-liter Duramax V8, which costs another $9,900 compared with the gas-powered models.
Ram Offers Up to 10% Off 2500 and 3500
Ram is reportedly offering up to 10% off its 2500 and 3500 models. Depending on the truck’s MSRP, the discount could represent substantial savings.
Ram claims average savings of $10,019 on 2500 and 3500 trucks. However, the offer applies only to select models, so buyers should confirm which trucks qualify for the discount.
The 6.7-liter Cummins inline-six costs an additional $12,995. If the roughly $10,000 discount applies, the diesel-powered truck would be about $3,000 more than a standard 2500 or 3500 equipped with the 6.4-liter Hemi.
Do Diesel Savings Offset Higher Fuel Costs?
For buyers considering a diesel truck, the mileage they drive and the fuel-efficiency benefit are important factors in determining whether the diesel option will pay off or at least break even.
For buyers whose primary use involves hauling, however, the calculation can be different. In either case, the current discounts could help offset the higher cost of diesel fuel.
