The 2027 Honda Civic Type R will arrive at dealerships later this month with its most substantial set of upgrades since the current FL5 generation went on sale four years ago. The refreshed hot hatch brings performance, technology and interior improvements, but its MSRP also rises by $1,300.
2027 Honda Civic Type R Pricing
The 2027 Civic Type R carries an MSRP of $48,695, up from the 2026 model’s $47,395 price. Despite the increase, Honda has paired the higher price with several performance and equipment upgrades.
Among the key changes is optimized suspension damping in +R mode. Honda says the revised setup improves cornering stability by reducing body motion. The braking system has also been adjusted for a more direct feel, while the standard six-speed manual transmission’s rev-match function provides faster engine response during downshifts.
More Standard Features Inside
The Civic Type R gains additional standard equipment for 2027, including heated front seats and Ultrasuede trim on the dashboard and door cards.
Honda has also expanded the car’s technology package with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and built-in Alexa and Google. The systems’ voice assistants allow for a more conversational approach to giving instructions than the previous Google Assistant.
Two USB-C ports have also been added to the center console above the standard wireless phone charger. The electronic driver-assistance suite now includes Post-Collision Braking, which automatically applies the brakes after a crash to help avoid follow-on accidents.
Exterior and Interior Updates
The 2027 Civic Type R receives a revised front fascia, although the changes are subtle. Honda says the central air intake is larger to improve cooling, while the front splitter has been extended further to increase downforce.
A new Meteorite Gray Metallic paint option joins the existing Boost Blue Pearl, Championship White and Sonic Gray Pearl finishes.
Inside, the front seats feature a new perforation pattern while retaining their signature bright red color. Honda has also added a diamond-pattern mesh to the dashboard and introduced darker tones for components including the aluminum shifter knob, center console accents and door handles.
The climate-control knobs and air vents now use black knurled knobs, adding another visual change to the cabin.
Honda Civic Type R Powertrain Remains Unchanged
Honda has not changed the Civic Type R’s powertrain for 2027. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four continues to produce 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, with power sent exclusively to the front wheels.
The engine does receive a new heritage-inspired engine cover, while the standard transmission remains a six-speed manual.
Enhanced Honda Racing Corporation Model Expected
For buyers seeking additional performance, an enhanced Civic Type R carrying Honda’s new HRC, or Honda Racing Corporation, badge is expected to arrive shortly. The model is anticipated to feature more power and less weight.
The 2027 Honda Civic Type R therefore combines its higher price with suspension, braking, technology, interior and exterior updates, while retaining the same 315-horsepower powertrain and front-wheel-drive layout.
