The BMW X3 M50 is getting a new Black Package that gives the M Performance crossover a darker appearance while pairing it with the model’s newly increased 443-horsepower output. The package also marks the first time the X3 can be ordered from the factory with 22-inch wheels.

BMW X3 M50 Gets the Black Package

Available exclusively for the M Performance version, the Black Package adds a series of black exterior details to the gasoline-powered X3 M50. The package includes high-gloss black brake calipers with monochrome M logos, while the exterior M badges and model designation receive a black finish with silver outlines.

The X3 M50 can also be equipped with 22-inch wheels from the factory for the first time, adding another significant visual change to the crossover.

The darker treatment continues inside. BMW adds Alcantara to the dashboard, the area ahead of the central display, the smartphone tray, door trims and center-console armrest.

The black Alcantara/Veganza seats feature blue stitching and piping, while M logos are embossed into the headrests.

BMW X3 M50 Now Produces 443 Horsepower

The Black Package arrives alongside the performance upgrades BMW announced the previous day. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology now produces 443 hp, an increase of 44 hp.

That output makes the X3 M50 the most powerful version yet of BMW’s B58 engine, as already seen in the M350 xDrive. Torque also rises by 40 Nm, or 30 lb-ft, to 580 Nm (428 lb-ft).

The additional power cuts the X3 M50’s 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time to 4.4 seconds. Using BMW’s recently introduced one-foot rollout method, the figure falls to 4.1 seconds.

The engine also meets Euro 7 requirements, with the increased output arriving alongside compliance with the tougher emissions regulations.

No Gas-Powered X3 M Is Planned

Despite the increased performance of the X3 M50, BMW does not plan to introduce another combustion-powered X3 M. The M50 is instead becoming increasingly difficult to view as merely an M Performance version between the standard X3 and a full X3 M.

A full X3 M is still planned, but it will be entirely electric. The “ZA5” is likely to break cover next year with a quad-motor setup and ludicrous power.

X3 M50 Black Package Arrives in Europe in December

The X3 M50 Black Package will reach Europe in December 2026. At the same time, the entire X3 lineup will receive the interior improvements BMW announced previously.

Those updates include ambient lighting for the center-console storage compartment and interior door handles, a new stitching pattern on the dashboard and an updated glovebox opener.

Rear passengers will also get stainless-steel edge guards when the X3 is equipped with the M50 or the plug-in hybrid 30e xDrive.

BMW Continues Moving Away From the iDrive Controller

The latest X3 also highlights BMW’s gradual move away from the iDrive controller with its next-generation models. As BMW rolls out new generations, the physical controller is becoming less common, making images of the X3 with its dial front and center increasingly notable.

The X3 is expected to be one of the last BMW models to feature the iDrive controller.
