BMW has offered a glimpse of its upcoming China product lineup, revealing a roadmap with several covered vehicles scheduled to arrive in the market before the end of 2027. The company has not identified the models, leaving their identities open to interpretation.

The product roadmap appeared in a document related to BMW’s 2026 Capital Market Day event. The image shows several vehicles hidden beneath colorful covers, and while BMW has provided no names, the lineup offers clues about what could be coming next.

Next-Generation iX1 Could Be Among Them

One of the covered vehicles is likely the long-wheelbase version of the next-generation iX1. The global NB5 with a standard wheelbase is likely coming in 2027, while its stretched NB6 counterpart could arrive in China during the same year.

Both models are expected to represent a true next-generation change, moving to a dedicated electric platform with rear-wheel drive. They should also use Gen6 electric motors and cylindrical-cell batteries, which are expected to bring improvements in efficiency and range.

A Bigger 3 Series Could Also Be Coming

Another mystery vehicle could be the next-generation 3 Series in its long-wheelbase configuration. BMW has only recently unveiled the global 3 Series G50, while China receives its own stretched G58 version.

The gas-fueled sedan would join the electric i3 NA0, which already has a longer-wheelbase version known as the locally made NA8.

Long-Wheelbase 5 Series and i5 May Be Next

The facelifted 5 Series/i5 in long-wheelbase form could also be among the covered vehicles. BMW already builds and sells an extended-wheelbase 5 Series in China.

The current-generation G60/G68 family is due for a mid-cycle update next year, bringing a Neue Klasse transformation.

These identifications remain educated guesses rather than official confirmations. BMW’s document simply places a number of covered vehicles on a timeline showing arrivals before the end of 2027, without revealing their names.

Four New Cars Expected in 2027

In addition to the vehicles beneath black, red and orange covers, a fourth vehicle concealed in white is shown arriving near the end of next year. Its identity remains uncertain, although possible candidates include the iX4 and perhaps the ALPINA 7 Series.

BMW also reiterated this week that the more upscale full-size luxury sedan is coming in 2027, likely under the G72 codename, further separating it from its G70 donor car.

Five More BMWs Planned for China in 2028

BMW’s roadmap extends beyond 2027, with five additional cars scheduled to arrive in China in 2028 alone.

By the end of the decade, BMW wants 95% of the vehicles it sells in its largest market to be built locally. The company is also looking into exporting Chinese-made cars to more Southeast Asian markets.

Long-wheelbase BMW models have not been limited to China for years. However, BMW does not expect these vehicles to reach Europe or North America, where it says customers have other priorities.

For now, the identities of the covered vehicles remain unconfirmed. BMW has yet to remove the covers or name the models shown in the roadmap, leaving the details of its upcoming China lineup open to further speculation.
