The 2027 Honda Civic Type R is getting a broad range of updates for the new model year, while its starting price increases by $1,300. The U.S.-market hot hatch now starts at $48,695, or $49,990 including destination.
2027 Civic Type R Price Increases
Honda has raised the starting MSRP of the Civic Type R from $47,395 for the 2026 model year to $48,695 for 2027. That represents a $1,300 increase, or about 2.7% over last year’s car.
With destination included, the 2027 Civic Type R carries a $49,990 sticker price. The price increase comes alongside updates to the car’s exterior, suspension, interior, infotainment and safety technology.

More Aggressive Civic Type R Exterior
The 2027 Civic Type R receives noticeable exterior changes, including a larger grille and a chunkier front splitter. Honda says the revised airflow reduces turbulence, helps keep the engine cooler and adds downforce when the car is being pushed hard.
A new Meteorite Gray Metallic exterior color also joins the existing Boost Blue Pearl, Sonic Gray Pearl and Championship White options.
Updated Interior and Sport Seats
Inside, the signature red sport seats receive a new perforation pattern and three-stage heating. Ultrasuede is added to the upper dashboard and front doors, while the shift knob, center console and door handles receive a darker gray finish.
A standard auto-dimming rearview mirror is also included for 2027.
Honda Focuses on Performance Refinements
The 2027 Civic Type R does not receive an increase in engine output. Its turbocharged K20C continues to produce 315 horsepower, and the engine is still built at Honda’s Anna Engine Plant in Ohio.
Instead, Honda has focused on refining how the Type R delivers its performance. The suspension in +R mode receives new tuning designed to help the car stay planted through corners while reducing bounce and harshness.
The Rev Match system is also quicker during downshifts. Honda has added a new yoke spring to the brake pedal to reduce slack and provide a firmer, more direct feel.
More Technology Comes Standard
The 2027 Civic Type R receives several technology upgrades. Google built-in, Gemini, Maps, Play and Alexa are now standard, along with two USB-C ports.
Honda Sensing also receives an upgrade, while Post-Collision Braking is now standard equipment.
2027 Civic Type R Arrives in U.S. Dealerships
Honda says the 2027 Civic Type R will reach U.S. dealerships this month. The new model year also marks 30 years of the Type R badge worldwide and a decade of the hot hatch in North America.
