The 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid will carry a significantly larger price premium over the base gas model, with the gap rising to $5,880. The increase comes as Toyota drops the entry-level Hybrid S trim, while the gas-powered Corolla Cross continues to outsell its hybrid variants by an even wider margin this year.

Corolla Cross Hybrid Price Gap Widens

Hybrid versions of gas-powered vehicles typically cost more because of the additional hardware, including electric motors and a high-voltage battery pack. Fuel savings can help offset that higher upfront price over time because hybrids tend to be more fuel-efficient.

For the 2027 model year, however, the price difference for the Corolla Cross Hybrid grows to $5,880 compared with the base gas model. The gap was $4,460 for the 2026 model year.

The change follows Toyota’s decision to discontinue the entry-level Hybrid S trim, which previously gave buyers access to a hybrid compact crossover with a starting MSRP below $30,000.

The 2027 hybrid lineup now starts at $31,415 for the Hybrid SE, excluding dealer processing and handling fees, and reaches $34,130 for the Hybrid XSE.

2027 Corolla Cross Prices Rise Across the Lineup

The 2027 Corolla Cross is largely carried over, but each remaining trim receives a slight price increase compared with the 2026 model year.

Trim 2027 MSRP 2026 MSRP
Corolla Cross L FWD $25,535 $25,335
Corolla Cross LE FWD $27,865 $27,665
Corolla Cross XLE FWD $30,460 $30,260
Corolla Cross L AWD $26,835 $26,635
Corolla Cross LE AWD $29,165 $28,965
Corolla Cross XLE AWD $31,910 $31,560
Corolla Cross Hybrid S AWD Discontinued $29,795
Corolla Cross Hybrid SE AWD $31,415 $31,115
Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE AWD $34,130 $33,830

The 2026 Corolla Cross was initially priced lower than the latest model. When it launched, the gas model started at $24,635, while the hybrid started at $28,995, meaning Toyota increased pricing during the 2026 model year.

Despite the increases, the 2027 Corolla Cross remains about $1,000 more affordable in starting MSRP than the 2027 Honda HR-V.

Why the 2027 Corolla Cross Hybrid Still Stands Out

The 2027 Corolla Cross Hybrid retains the same powertrain as the previous model. It uses a 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with three electric motors to produce a combined 196 horsepower.

Toyota’s manufacturer-estimated fuel economy figures are 46 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway and 42 mpg combined. Those figures are higher than the FWD gas model’s 30/32/31 mpg ratings.

For prospective buyers, particularly those focused on their budget, the higher upfront cost of the hybrid can be considered alongside the potential long-term fuel savings offered by its greater fuel efficiency.

2027 Corolla Cross U.S. Availability

The 2027 Corolla Cross models are scheduled to reach U.S. dealerships in fall 2026. Production remains in Huntsville, Alabama.
