The 2027 Lexus RX is getting track-focused chassis tuning in Japan following development work at the Nürburgring, but it remains unclear whether the same updates will reach the American model.
Lexus Gives the 2027 RX Chassis Updates
According to a Japanese press release, Lexus has adjusted several chassis-related systems on the 2027 RX after spending time testing the midsize luxury SUV around the Nürburgring.
The updates reportedly include changes to the power steering, adaptive suspension and rear-wheel steering. Lexus has not detailed the exact revisions to those components, but the company says the goal was to create a driving feel in which “the driver can communicate with the car.”
The 2027 Lexus RX models sold in Japan also receive several equipment changes beyond the chassis tuning. Infrared-blocking glass for the front doors is designed to reduce heating from the sun.
A digital rearview mirror and drive recorder are standard on the RX 350 and RX 350h. F Sport versions can also be equipped with red-painted brake calipers.
Will the Updates Reach the U.S. Lexus RX?
The question for American buyers is whether the track-developed chassis changes will be included on U.S.-market versions of the 2027 Lexus RX.
When Lexus in the U.S. announced changes for the 2027 model, it included the red brake calipers among the updates shared with the Japanese version. However, the U.S. announcement did not mention the chassis or equipment changes outlined for the Japanese models.
The primary changes announced for the American market included eliminating the base trim from various RX models, discontinuing a couple of exterior paint colors and dropping an appearance package.
Lexus Has Not Confirmed U.S. Chassis Changes
Clarification has been requested from Lexus on whether the Japanese-market features and chassis updates were simply omitted from the U.S. announcement or will not be offered on American models.
Different markets can receive different suspension and steering tuning, making the question particularly relevant to the 2027 Lexus RX. Lexus had not provided confirmation one way or another at the time of publication.
The 2027 Lexus RX updates for the U.S. market therefore remain limited to what Lexus has officially announced, while confirmation on the Japanese model’s chassis and equipment changes is still pending.
