The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado will offer the popular Multi-Flex Tailgate on fewer variants, while the price of the option is also increasing by $150. The feature, which gives owners multiple ways to access and use the truck bed, will be limited to three Silverado models for the new model year.
2027 Silverado Multi-Flex Tailgate Availability
According to a report from GM Authority, Chevrolet is reducing the availability of the Multi-Flex Tailgate for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado. The feature will now be offered only on the Trailboss, High Country and ZR2 variants.
During the 2026 model year, the Multi-Flex Tailgate was available across the Silverado 1500 lineup with regular-cab or crew-cab body styles, excluding the double-cab. It was priced at $445 and came standard on the ZR2.
For the 2027 model year, the option price rises to $595, representing a $150 increase. The Silverado ZR2 will continue to receive the Multi-Flex Tailgate as standard equipment.
What the Multi-Flex Tailgate Offers
The Multi-Flex Tailgate became popular because it provided owners with six different cargo-bed operating layouts. The configurations were designed to make loading and accessing cargo easier.
The system also allowed owners to load and properly secure multiple types of cargo, giving the tailgate added flexibility for different hauling needs.
Chevrolet Reduces Feature Availability
GM does not list a reason for reducing the Multi-Flex Tailgate’s availability on the 2027 Silverado. The change limits the feature to the Trailboss, High Country and ZR2, while customers who choose it as an option will also face the higher $595 price.
The new Silverado is expected to bring new engine options, a revised design and additional features as Chevrolet continues efforts to keep its flagship truck competitive.
