Chevrolet has revealed pricing for the 2027 Chevy Silverado HD, which receives major powertrain updates for the new model year while retaining its existing overall design. The Silverado 2500 HD gets new engines and higher prices across every trim announced so far, keeping the heavy-duty pickup closely positioned against Ford’s Super Duty lineup.
2027 Chevy Silverado HD Pricing
Chevrolet has announced pricing for the Silverado 2500 HD, with the lower three trims each receiving a $1,000 increase compared with the 2026 model year.
- WT: $47,200, up from $46,200
- Custom: $50,500, up from $49,500
- LT: $53,900, up from $52,900
- LTZ: $64,900, up from $63,600
- ZR2: $74,900, up from $73,500
- High Country: $75,400, up from $73,900
The High Country receives the largest increase at $1,500. All listed prices exclude Chevrolet’s $2,795 destination charge.
Chevrolet has not yet announced pricing for the Silverado 3500 HD, with those details expected to be revealed imminently.
Silverado HD vs. Ford F-250 Pricing
The base Ford F-250 XL starts at $46,125, making it slightly less expensive than the base Silverado 2500 HD WT.
Chevrolet, however, gives the Silverado HD a new 6.6-liter V8 producing 472 lb-ft of torque, the most standard torque in its class. That figure exceeds the 445 lb-ft produced by the Ford F-250’s 7.3-liter V8.
Chevrolet also offers its 8.3-liter turbodiesel V8 across all Silverado 2500 HD trims. The engine adds $11,400 to the base price, while Ford charges $12,495 for the Power Stroke diesel on the base F-250.
What’s New for the 2027 Silverado HD
The biggest changes for the 2027 Silverado HD center on its upgraded engines. The new 6.6-liter gas V8 produces 412 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque, with improvements including a revised intake manifold, an upgraded lubrication system and new emissions hardware.
The engine is paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission across the lineup.
For maximum towing capability, Chevrolet offers the new 8.3-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel. It produces 555 horsepower and 1,230 lb-ft of torque, figures described as best in the class, allowing Silverado HD trucks to tow up to 38,000 pounds with a gooseneck trailer.
The Duramax uses a compacted graphite iron cylinder block, forged crankshaft, steel pistons and forged connecting rods. It is also paired with the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission.
New Silverado HD Chassis and Driving Technology
Beyond the engines, Chevrolet has added several other updates to the 2027 Silverado HD. The pickup receives a segment-first rack-and-pinion electric power steering system, an electronic brake-boost system and recalibrated driving modes.
The updates arrive as Chevrolet and Ford continue competing closely in the heavy-duty pickup segment, with both manufacturers offering highly capable trucks at similar price points.
2027 Silverado HD Towing and Performance
Ford continues to lead in maximum towing capacity, with the F-450 capable of hauling up to 40,000 pounds. Chevrolet’s new diesel engine, however, is now the most potent engine in the class, producing 555 horsepower and 1,230 lb-ft of torque.
With pricing remaining closely aligned between the two trucks, how each pickup performs and responds when towing near its maximum capacity will be an important factor in the competition.
The 2027 Chevy Silverado HD therefore enters the new model year with higher prices, substantially upgraded engines and new chassis technology, while the Silverado 3500 HD pricing remains to be announced.
