Alfa Romeo is showing signs of renewed activity as Stellantis restructures its business around its core brands. While the automaker awaits a new generation of models, every vehicle in its current lineup is receiving updates aimed at keeping the brand competitive.
Alfa Romeo Remains a Key Stellantis Brand
Stellantis has been placing greater focus on Jeep, Ram, Peugeot and Fiat, which are central to the company’s business in North America and Europe. The automaker is investing more heavily in those brands, with its other marques expected to benefit later.
That strategy does not mean Stellantis plans to simply rebadge vehicles from its four core brands for its other automakers. The company still has a portfolio of significant legacy marques, including Alfa Romeo, whose future remains an important consideration as new models approach.
Alfa Romeo Updates Its Current Lineup
Alfa Romeo has experienced ups and downs in the U.S. market and remains a relatively niche brand outside Europe. Despite that, it continues to be a highly regarded automaker with more than a century of history.
New Alfa Romeo models are expected to arrive, but the current lineup remains limited. Before the next generation of vehicles arrives, the company is updating all of the models it currently produces.
Alfa Romeo Junior Gets a Major Interior Update
The Junior, the newest model in the Alfa Romeo lineup, receives several changes, with the most significant focused on the cabin. The interior now features higher-grade textures and materials, along with new dashboard visuals and finishes.
Each trim level also receives its own interior theme. The Junior and Sprint versions adopt the new Icona interior, which includes premium black fabric seats, the Biscione-brand logo on the backrest and contrasting gray stitching. The dashboard, tunnel and door panels use black Scuba upholstery.
The Ti and Veloce trims receive the new Carbon interior as standard.
Tonale Adds New Features and Luna Rossa Trim
The Tonale receives more subtle changes, including additional standard features and the new Luna Rossa trim.
The Luna Rossa version features 20-inch black diamond-cut wheels, a body kit with Dark Miron accents, red Brembo brake calipers, unique side livery and red Alfa Romeo logos.
Inside, the Tonale Luna Rossa features 3D Knit seats and multicolored ambient lighting with sailing-inspired visuals.
Giulia and Stelvio Receive Further Updates
The Giulia and Stelvio are the oldest models in Alfa Romeo’s current lineup. The Giulia debuted in 2015, while the Stelvio arrived in 2016. Both have received updates this decade, but redesigned versions are eventually expected.
Until those all-new models arrive, both vehicles receive additional updates. European-market versions will get a detuned 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, which could help lower the entry price for the models.
The Giulia and Stelvio also receive updated driver-assistance systems for compliance, as well as a driver-monitoring system required by the European Union. It remains unknown whether that system will also be offered on U.S.-market versions.
Alfa Romeo Prepares for Its Next Generation
The latest changes across the Alfa Romeo lineup are focused on enhancement rather than major transformation. The Junior and Tonale receive equipment and design upgrades, while the Giulia and Stelvio gain additional updates as they continue toward the arrival of their all-new successors.
For now, these models will carry Alfa Romeo’s lineup forward as the brand prepares for what comes next from Milan.
