The 2027 BMW iX4 is officially returning as an all-electric crossover, bringing the coupe-like X4 back to BMW’s lineup on the same Neue Klasse platform as the iX3. BMW will launch the iX4 in March 2027 with 50 xDrive and high-performance M60 xDrive variants.
BMW iX4 Offers Long Range and High Power
The iX4 50 xDrive uses two electric motors producing 463 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Its 112.2 kWh battery is expected to deliver a 428-mile range, slightly below the iX3’s 434-mile maximum.
The iX3 was initially expected to deliver 400 miles of range, meaning the iX4 could ultimately achieve a higher figure when it receives its EPA rating.
Thanks to the Neue Klasse architecture, the iX4 supports charging speeds of up to 400 kW. BMW says a 10% to 80% charge takes 21 minutes, while the vehicle can add 184 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
BMW says the iX4 50 xDrive will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph.
603-HP BMW iX4 M60
The range-topping iX4 M60 xDrive will arrive shortly after the launch, raising output to 603 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
The M60 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph. Although it is not the fully fledged X4 M model that was expected, the M60 brings substantial performance to the electric X4 lineup.
M Performance Features
The iX4 M60 receives Adaptive M Suspension, which is also available as an option on the 50. The option includes sport steering with a variable-ratio rack.
Only the M60 gets an M Sport rear differential and Sport Plus driving mode. Drivers can also use the paddle shifters to adjust M eDrive and make the iX4 more aggressive.
Every iX4 comes standard with the M Sport Package, including 20-inch M wheels and optional blue brake calipers. The iX4 M60 rides on standard 21-inch wheels with red or blue calipers.
Buyers can also add M Yellow Lights to the M60. The feature was previously exclusive to CS models.
Coupe-Inspired Electric Design
The iX4 shares much of its exterior design with the iX3, particularly at the front. Its biggest visual difference appears toward the rear, where the roofline takes on a more coupe-like shape before tapering into a trunk-like rear section.
A rear spoiler sits above the trunk lid, adding to the iX4’s sportier appearance.
BMW will offer nine colors at launch, including Eucalyptus Green, Vegas Red, Polarized Grey, Frozen Pure Red, Frozen Ocean Wave Blue and Frozen Space Silver. Additional BMW Individual colors will become available later.
An Iconic Glow Package, standard on the M60, illuminates the kidney grilles and adds additional rear lighting with welcome animations.
BMW iX4 Interior and M Sport Features
The iX4 carries over much of the iX3’s interior layout, including BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X.
The system includes a large display below the windshield that is projected from the dashboard rather than functioning as a conventional screen. An optional 3D head-up display is also available.
The M60 offers a special M Sport steering wheel that is not available on the iX3 or iX4 50. It features a red 12 o’clock marker, red stitching, shift paddles, and buttons for Boost Mode and M Mode.
M Sport seats are also available on the M60, featuring an illuminated M logo and a massage function.
2027 BMW iX4 Pricing
Pricing for the BMW iX4 50 xDrive starts at $66,200 plus destination, making it more expensive than the $61,500 iX3.
No pricing has been announced for the iX4 M60. BMW will launch the iX4 in March 2027, with the M60 arriving shortly after the initial launch.
