The Lexus GX is getting a street-focused makeover from Japanese tuner Novel, which has introduced its first body kit for the luxury SUV. The package gives the GX a sportier appearance with front and rear bumper extensions and faux vents, while retaining the model’s rugged design and off-road-oriented foundation.
Novel Brings Its Lexus Expertise to the GX
Based in Gifu, Japan, Novel specializes exclusively in Lexus vehicles. Depending on the model, the company offers body kits, braking components, adjustable suspension systems and exhaust upgrades. It has also campaigned cars in the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race.
The new Lexus GX body kit marks Novel’s first product for the SUV. For now, the package focuses on styling rather than performance, with no upgrades to the GX’s mechanical capabilities included.
The kit features front and rear bumper extensions alongside faux vents. The bumper additions make the most noticeable difference, giving the SUV a lower, sportier appearance without requiring changes to its factory ride height.
The vents may not be functional, but their integration into the GX’s bodywork is a key part of the design. The rear vents are particularly distinctive, connecting the upper portions of the taillights with the lower edge of the tailgate and the reflectors.
Novel also appears to have designed the rear bumper extension to accommodate a tow hitch, preserving the possibility of retaining that equipment.
How Much Does the Novel Lexus GX Body Kit Cost?
The complete Novel body kit costs 461,000 yen, equivalent to $2,909. All components are made from fiberglass and will likely require painting to match the SUV’s exterior.
Buyers do not have to purchase the entire package. Each component is available separately, allowing owners to leave out individual pieces, including the faux vents.
The bumper extensions are the most expensive components. The front extension costs 147,000 yen ($928), while the rear extension is priced at 140,000 yen ($884).
The vent sets are less expensive, with either the front or rear set costing 87,000 yen ($549). This individual pricing gives GX owners the flexibility to customize the SUV’s appearance without committing to the complete kit.
Novel Offers More Lexus Body Kits and Performance Parts
Although the GX kit represents Novel’s first move into SUVs, the company has more experience modifying Lexus sports cars. Its North American website lists aerodynamic body kits and exhaust systems for the Lexus RC F, GS F, LC500 and IS F.
Novel also offers suspension components for all of those models except the LC500, allowing owners to achieve lower, more aggressive stances while retaining adjustability and performance.
Three of the kits include a front lip spoiler, rear diffuser, rear under spoiler and side spoilers. These components are available in carbon fiber or fiberglass, with the fiberglass parts designed to be painted to match the rest of the vehicle.
Owners of the Lexus IS F can also choose additional components, including a dry carbon roof, carbon hood, duct panels and door mirror extensions.
A Street-Focused Styling Option for the Lexus GX
