Jeep plans to expand its European lineup to six models by 2030, including a next-generation Jeep Renegade, the all-electric Recon off-roader and a new D-segment SUV expected in 2028. Announced at the Paris Motor Show, the strategy outlines the American automaker’s plans to strengthen its presence across Europe while offering multiple powertrain options. Jeep has not confirmed whether the new Renegade will also return to the U.S. market.

Jeep Plans Six Models for Europe by 2030

Xavier Peugeot, head of Jeep Brand Europe, outlined the company’s next steps at the Paris Motor Show, combining an expanded product lineup with a longer-term vision for the brand.

The next-generation Renegade is expected by 2030, with Jeep positioning the model as a way to strengthen its portfolio and attract new customers. The expansion will bring the European lineup to six models, including the updated Avenger, the new Renegade, the all-new Compass, the electric Recon and a new D-segment SUV scheduled to arrive in 2028.

The Recon will sit above the all-new Jeep Compass compact SUV. Together, the planned models will expand Jeep’s presence across the B-, C- and D-SUV segments, giving the automaker coverage of approximately 90% of the European SUV market by 2030, according to the company.

Will the New Jeep Renegade Come to the U.S.?

Jeep has not announced whether the next-generation Renegade will be offered in the United States. For now, the confirmed plans focus on Europe, where the model is expected to target a broader audience in one of the region’s key SUV segments.

The Renegade’s position in the lineup remains an important consideration because Jeep already sells the Avenger in the B-SUV segment. The new Renegade could fill the space between the Avenger and the Compass, although Jeep has not officially confirmed its positioning.

Jeep’s European product roadmap also emphasizes multi-energy platforms, suggesting that the next Renegade will feature some form of electrification. The automaker has not provided specific details about the model’s powertrain options.

Jeep Keeps Its Freedom of Choice Powertrain Strategy

Jeep said its “Freedom of Choice” powertrain strategy will remain central to its European plans. The approach is intended to give customers different powertrain solutions so they can choose the technology that best fits their needs and preferences.

The company also emphasized that every model in its lineup will have a 4×4 version, maintaining a key element of the Jeep brand identity as the range expands.

The Renegade has sold more than 610,000 units in Europe since the first-generation model launched in 2014. The Avenger has also recorded significant sales, with nearly 300,000 units sold since its launch in early 2023.

What Is Jeep’s Sixth European Model?

Although Jeep has outlined five models for its European lineup by 2030, the sixth remains unnamed. The planned range includes the facelifted Avenger, the next-generation Renegade, the all-new Compass, the electric Recon and the new D-segment SUV arriving in 2028.

The Wrangler might ordinarily be expected to fill the remaining position, but Jeep recently stopped taking orders for the model in Europe because it is incompatible with a number of European regulations. That decision helps explain the planned arrival of the Recon in the region.

Two teaser images released by Jeep may offer clues about another possible model. One shows a large crate marked “Not Fragile,” with a Willys MB military vehicle positioned in front of it. The shadow cast on the crate appears to depict a different vehicle, with a boxy, rugged SUV shape and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.

Jeep Hints at Compact, Electrified Off-Roaders

Jeep has also described its plans beyond 2030, saying it is “exploring new ways to respond to evolving mobility needs.” The company pointed to growing demand for compact, sustainable vehicles that can handle everyday city driving while also being suited to trips away from urban areas.

The automaker said this shift creates an opportunity for a new vision inspired by Jeep icons such as the Willys, with capable, compact and electrified vehicles designed to meet future mobility needs.

Although Jeep has not identified the vehicle shown in the teaser images, its comments leave open the possibility of a small off-roader inspired by the Willys. Such a model could bring the original vehicle’s rugged, minimalist philosophy into a modern, potentially all-electric format, but the company has not confirmed a production model or its specifications.

For now, Jeep’s confirmed European plans center on expanding its lineup to six models by 2030, bringing back the Renegade and introducing the electric Recon and a new D-segment SUV. The identity of the sixth model and the possibility of a U.S. return for the Renegade remain unconfirmed.
