A custom Pagani Utopia featuring real gold and moon dust in its paint finish has become the latest addition to car collector Kris Singh’s collection. Named the “Madonna of the Car Nation,” the bespoke supercar was delivered to Singh in Italy after his original plan to commission an Aston Martin Valkyrie featuring the unusual materials fell through.
Why Kris Singh Chose the Pagani Utopia
Singh initially wanted Aston Martin to create a Valkyrie incorporating the valuable lunar material. However, according to the collector, the automaker was unwilling to work with it, prompting him to declare on social media that it was “their loss” and that “the show must go on.”
The project ultimately moved forward with the Pagani Utopia instead. The finished car reflects a highly personalized approach to automotive design, with materials and details selected to create a distinctive appearance.
While some automakers, including Ferrari, may limit certain modifications to preserve their brands’ identities and exclusivity, the Utopia demonstrates a different approach to customization.
Pagani Utopia Draws Inspiration From Leonardo da Vinci
The car’s name, “Madonna of the Car Nation,” references Leonardo da Vinci’s painting Madonna of the Carnation. Its gold tones provided inspiration for the vehicle’s distinctive finish.
References to the Italian Renaissance artist have appeared in Singh’s collection before. He previously owned a Pagani Huayra La Monza Lisa, named in reference to da Vinci’s famous painting, and a Huayra BC Macchina Volante, inspired by the artist’s flying-machine designs.
The latest Utopia continues that theme, combining artistic inspiration with extensive customization and unusual materials.
Real Gold and Moon Dust Define the Exterior
The paint finish was developed by Karosserie, which combined crushed moon rock with shavings from 24-karat gold bars. The mixture gives the Utopia its defining exterior treatment, according to Singh.
The gold theme continues inside the cabin. Black leather seats are paired with extensive gold trim across the seats, doors, dashboard and pedals.
The gear shifter also features a gold finish and is connected to the optional seven-speed manual transmission, extending the customization to the car’s controls.
Pagani Utopia Engine Delivers 864 Horsepower
Underneath its elaborate finish, the Pagani Utopia uses a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG. The engine produces 864 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque as standard.
That output is lower than the horsepower produced by the naturally aspirated hybrid V12 in the Aston Martin Valkyrie, Singh’s original choice for the project. However, the Utopia’s defining feature is its extensive customization rather than a focus on outright performance.
How Much Does the Gold-and-Moon-Dust Pagani Cost?
Singh has not disclosed the total cost of the custom build. Pagani is limiting Utopia production to 229 units, including 99 coupes, with coupe prices starting at around $2.5 million.
The addition of real gold and extraterrestrial material could push the cost substantially beyond the starting price, although the final figure remains undisclosed.
For Singh, the project represents more than an expensive set of materials and bespoke finishes. The Pagani Utopia combines artistic inspiration, rare components and the freedom to customize a supercar to his own specifications.
