The Audi Q7 recently became the first vehicle to earn a perfect post-crash safety score under Euro NCAP’s testing criteria. Several features contributed to the result, including an automatic emergency call function designed to notify first responders when a serious collision occurs.
The system immediately transmits essential information to rescue teams, including the vehicle’s location, its characteristics and the severity of the impact. This information helps emergency responders understand the circumstances of a crash.
Although eCall has been legally mandated in the European Union since 2018, Audi’s implementation is said to provide more comprehensive information than other versions of the system.
Automatic emergency braking and easy access to the vehicle after a collision also contribute to the Q7’s post-crash safety performance. Together, these features helped the SUV secure its flawless 100% score in the category.
The Q7 also performed well across other areas of Euro NCAP’s safety assessments, earning a five-star overall rating.

Beyond its perfect post-crash result, the luxury SUV recorded a score of 72% for safe driving and 77% for crash avoidance. Both figures are in line with average industry scores.
Crash protection was another strong area for the Q7, with the vehicle earning a score of 88%. Combined with its post-crash performance, the results demonstrate how the SUV fared across the different elements of Euro NCAP’s assessment.
Why the Audi Q7 Cannot Yet Be Directly Compared With the Volvo XC60
Despite the Q7’s strong results, direct comparisons with other vehicles require caution. Euro NCAP changed its assessment pillars in 2026, meaning the latest percentages cannot yet be compared directly with those of the Volvo XC60 without the necessary data.
The electric BMW iX3 provides another point of reference. It achieved a 95% post-crash safety score, along with 73% for safe driving, 83% for crash avoidance and 86% for crash protection.
