The Gunther Werks Brundle Edition is a limited-production Porsche 911 restomod that combines motorsport-inspired styling with serious performance upgrades. Based on the 993-generation 911, the special model pays tribute to former Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle, features a design created by his daughter Charlie, and delivers 860 horsepower through a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Production will be limited to just five examples.
Gunther Werks Brundle Edition Honors Martin Brundle
Classic Porsche 911s can be restored to their original specifications, modified with modern components or transformed through extensive restomod projects. Companies such as Singer focus on enhancing classic styling with modern powertrains, while RWB is known for more aggressive body modifications.
Gunther Werks takes a different approach, specializing in the 993-generation Porsche 911 and transforming it into a high-performance machine. The company has produced numerous extensively modified examples over the years, including the Turbo Commission.
The Brundle Edition continues that tradition while paying tribute to Martin Brundle, who competed in Formula 1 and later achieved greater success in touring car and sports car racing. He raced wheel-to-wheel against Ayrton Senna and has spent nearly 30 years working as a Formula 1 pundit.
Although younger audiences may know Brundle primarily for his broadcasting career, the special Porsche celebrates his achievements behind the wheel. His daughter, Charlie, designed the Brundle Edition, giving the project a personal connection to the former racing driver.
A Porsche 911 Restomod Limited to Five Cars
Brundle approved the project, which draws inspiration from several aspects of his motorsports career. Although he never raced professionally for Porsche and famously defeated the German automaker at the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans while driving a Jaguar, he owned several Porsche 911s.
Charlie designed a distinctive livery inspired by her father’s crash helmet. The exterior treatment is paired with one-off forged magnesium wheels inspired by the Brabham Formula 1 car he drove.
Unique Brundle wordmarks appear both inside and outside the car, accompanied by additional details throughout the cabin. One of the most distinctive touches is a saying attributed to Brundle, permanently displayed on the dashboard: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.”
Gunther Werks will build only five examples of the Brundle Edition, making the tribute an exceptionally limited addition to the company’s lineup of modified 993-generation 911s.
Chassis Upgrades Give the Brundle Edition a Performance Focus
The Gunther Werks Brundle Edition goes well beyond its distinctive paintwork and motorsport-inspired details. Its chassis has been extensively upgraded with a wider front track, thicker anti-roll bars and bespoke suspension arms.
The car also features DGR computer-controlled active coilovers specifically tuned for the Brundle Edition. These changes distinguish the model from a standard 993 and reflect the performance-focused approach behind the project.
860-HP Twin-Turbo Engine and Six-Speed Manual
Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine built by Rothsport Racing for Gunther Werks. The engine revs to 7,500 rpm and produces 860 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.
All that power is delivered to the rear wheels, maintaining the car’s rear-wheel-drive configuration. The powertrain is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, giving the Brundle Edition a traditional manual driving experience despite its extensive modern performance upgrades.
A Motorsport Tribute With Modern Performance
The Gunther Werks Brundle Edition combines a personalized design inspired by Martin Brundle’s racing career with substantial mechanical upgrades. Its helmet-inspired livery, Brabham-inspired wheels and dashboard tribute give the car a direct connection to its namesake.
With 860 horsepower, a bespoke chassis setup and a six-speed manual transmission, the limited-run Porsche 911 restomod brings together motorsport heritage and modern performance in a package limited to five cars.
