A new Lexus NX recall affects 68,356 SUVs from the 2022 through 2024 model years because of an instrument panel defect that could leave critical vehicle information invisible to drivers. The problem involves a seven-inch digital combination meter that may develop blank areas when the vehicle starts, potentially concealing information about engine oil pressure, coolant temperature and electrical charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to begin mailing on December 7, 2026, while a software update will be provided at no cost once the repair becomes available.
Which Lexus NX Models Are Included in the Recall?
The recall covers four Lexus NX variants across the 2022, 2023 and 2024 model years. The affected vehicles include gasoline-powered models as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
- Lexus NX 250: 1,245 vehicles from the 2022-2024 model years.
- Lexus NX 350: 29,099 vehicles from the 2022-2024 model years.
- Lexus NX 350h: 26,554 vehicles from the 2022-2024 model years.
- Lexus NX 450h+: 11,458 vehicles from the 2022-2024 model years.
In total, 68,356 Lexus NX vehicles are potentially affected by the defect. Models outside the 2022-2024 model-year range are not included in this recall.
What Is Wrong With the Lexus NX Instrument Panel?
The defect involves the seven-inch combination meter display installed in the affected vehicles. An initialization error during startup may cause certain sections of the screen to go blank.
When this happens, drivers may be unable to see important vehicle information, including engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature or electrical charge. If these conditions occur, drivers might not recognize the problem, potentially resulting in severe mechanical damage or an increased risk of a crash.
The issue affects a digital instrument panel controlled by software. The required repair will address the problem through a software update to the combination meter.
When Will Lexus NX Owners Receive a Recall Fix?
Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed beginning December 7, 2026. Until then, Lexus NX owners can contact Toyota customer care at 1-800-331-4331 for additional information about the recall.
Owners should reference recall number 26LA10 when contacting customer care.
The date when affected vehicles will become searchable online has not been specified. Once the information becomes available, owners will be able to check whether their vehicles are included by entering their vehicle identification number, or VIN.
When the remedy is ready, owners will need to take their affected vehicles to a Lexus dealer to have the combination meter software updated. The repair will be completed at no charge.
Lexus NX Recall Follows Other Toyota Display Problems
The latest Lexus NX recall follows several other Toyota and Lexus recalls involving instrument panel display failures over the past year or so.
In August 2026, more than 500,000 Toyota Camry models were recalled over the same issue affecting the Lexus NX. Those vehicles use a similar seven-inch combination meter display.
Another recall in May affected more than 81,000 vehicles, including the Lexus UX and Toyota Land Cruiser. That campaign involved models equipped with a larger 12.3-inch display.
A year earlier, another 591,000 Toyota vehicles were recalled because of blank instrument panel displays. Combined with the later recalls, the number of affected vehicles across these campaigns has exceeded one million.
Digital Instrument Panels Pose a Continuing Challenge
Toyota continues to be recognized for mechanical reliability, but repeated instrument panel failures have highlighted challenges associated with its transition to digital dashboards and software-controlled vehicle systems.
Unlike traditional analog instrument clusters, digital displays depend on electronic components and software to present essential vehicle information. When those systems malfunction, drivers may lose access to information needed to monitor their vehicles.
Toyota is not the only established automaker dealing with software-related problems of this kind. However, the repeated display-related recalls have raised concerns about the reliability of these systems, including in vehicles from a brand widely associated with dependability.
Owners of affected 2022-2024 Lexus NX models can contact Toyota customer care for information and arrange the free software repair when it becomes available.
