The new Fiat Titano Popemobile is being prepared for Pope Leo XIV’s official visit to Uruguay from November 6 to 8, 2026. Nordex, Stellantis’ production partner in Uruguay, will build and modify the vehicle with specialized seating, open sides and other features designed for the Pope’s public appearances.

Fiat Titano Transformed Into a Popemobile

The Popemobile allows the Pope to remain visible to crowds during public appearances while accommodating his transportation and safety needs. Each vehicle is specially modified for its intended use, making the latest Fiat Titano another distinctive addition to the Popemobile lineup.

Nordex will handle the construction and conversion of the Fiat Titano in Uruguay. The modifications will focus on visibility and safety, with the vehicle taking a different approach from the traditional enclosed design featuring bulletproof glass.

Instead, the Fiat Titano Popemobile will have exposed sides, allowing the Pope to be more visible during public appearances.

Key Features of the Fiat Titano Popemobile

The modified truck will include a swivel seat with adjustable height for Pope Leo XIV, as well as two additional seats. An electric staircase at the rear will make it easier to enter and exit the truck bed.

The exterior will be finished in white, with the papal seal displayed on the doors and flags mounted on the front wings. The vehicle will also feature a red carpet, white leather seats and a glass canopy to provide protection from rain.

These custom features are designed to adapt the Fiat Titano to the requirements of the Pope’s public appearances during his Uruguay visit.

Toyota Hilux Popemobiles Planned for Argentina

The Fiat Titano will be used for Pope Leo XIV’s Uruguay visit from November 6 to 8, 2026. For his visit to Argentina, he will use a Toyota Hilux.

Toyota has confirmed that it will donate two Popemobile vehicles, with one intended for Buenos Aires and the other for the Pope’s trip to Córdoba.

The specific modifications planned for the two Toyota Hilux vehicles have not been officially detailed.
