The 2027 Kia EV9 brings modest price increases and targeted upgrades as Kia continues to compete in America’s three-row electric SUV market. The biggest changes affect the EV9 Land, which gains more torque and makes the previously optional Nightfall Edition Package standard, while the rest of the lineup receives relatively minor pricing adjustments.
2027 Kia EV9 Pricing and Trim Levels
The entry-level 2027 Kia EV9 costs just $90 more than its 2026 counterpart. The Land trim sees the largest increase, rising by $1,090, while the other versions receive smaller adjustments.
- EV9 Light Short Range: $54,990
- EV9 Light Long Range: $57,990
- EV9 Wind: $64,090
- EV9 Land: $69,990
- EV9 GT-Line: $71,990
Kia has added value to the Land trim by making the Nightfall Edition Package standard. The package previously cost $1,500 as an optional extra and includes 20-inch black wheels, gloss-black exterior components such as the skid plates and grille, a black headliner, and seating upholstery with an exclusive pattern.
The 2027 EV9 Land also receives a torque increase to 516 lb-ft, matching the range-topping GT-Line. No other changes have been announced for the 2027 model, which is expected to become available imminently.
Kia EV9 Performance and Driving Range
The 2027 Kia EV9 lineup retains several powertrain configurations, with output and driving range varying by trim. The base Light Short Range produces 215 horsepower through a rear-wheel-drive motor, while the Light Long Range delivers 201 horsepower. The three higher trims—Wind, Land and GT-Line—produce 379 horsepower and come with all-wheel drive.
Torque output differs among those upper trims. The Wind delivers 443 lb-ft, while the Land and GT-Line produce 516 lb-ft. Kia’s top two trims have a claimed zero-to-60-mph acceleration time of five seconds, making them significantly quicker than any three-row Telluride.
Driving range also varies across the lineup. The Light Long Range offers the longest range, covering up to 305 miles on a full charge. The Light Short Range is rated for 230 miles but is fractionally the most efficient EV9 in city driving, achieving 101 MPGe.
Interior Features and Passenger Space
Depending on the configuration, the Kia EV9 accommodates six or seven occupants. Standard equipment includes an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, SynTex imitation leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, automatic tri-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Higher trim levels add more premium equipment, including a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable second-row seats, and heated and ventilated second-row seating. Buyers can also choose between a power sunroof and a fixed glass roof.
The EV9 GT-Line received a rating of 9 out of 10 after a drive earlier this year. Despite its higher price, the top trim was praised for its comfortable ride, strong acceleration and spacious interior, making it a compelling family vehicle designed to keep both drivers and passengers comfortable.
Toyota Highlander EV Could Challenge the Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 faces a potential new rival with the upcoming all-electric Toyota Highlander, which is scheduled to launch in early 2027. Despite reports suggesting a second delay, Toyota has confirmed that the new model remains on track for that launch window. The Highlander EV is a separate model from the current gasoline-powered Highlander.
The upcoming electric SUV is expected to offer a driving range of up to 315 miles and as much as 338 horsepower in all-wheel-drive versions. It will also feature vehicle-to-load technology, allowing owners to power appliances and other devices using the vehicle.
Toyota’s brand strength and the current sales performance of its electric vehicles could help the Highlander EV attract buyers in the three-row electric SUV segment. However, pricing has not yet been announced. If Toyota prices the Highlander EV below the Kia EV9, the new SUV could become a strong competitor for the segment’s sales leadership.
What the 2027 Kia EV9 Updates Mean for Buyers
The 2027 Kia EV9 retains its existing lineup while introducing a more powerful Land trim and making its Nightfall Edition Package standard. With prices starting at $54,990 and a maximum range of 305 miles, the EV9 remains a key option for buyers considering a three-row electric SUV. Toyota’s upcoming Highlander EV could add another competitive choice when it arrives in early 2027.
