Stellantis reported a net loss of $503 million in the third quarter of 2026, marking a 90% improvement from the same period a year earlier as the global automaker continues its financial recovery. Although the company remains unprofitable, stronger operating income and significant industrial cost savings indicate progress in its efforts to stabilize the business following major losses during its aggressive electric vehicle transition.
Stellantis Reports Stronger Operating Income in Q3 2026
Stellantis recorded adjusted operating income of approximately $284 million for the quarter, an increase of 184%. The improvement was driven largely by nearly $919 million in industrial cost savings generated through the company’s Value Creation Program.
Global shipments remained relatively stable at 1.3 million units, while net revenues increased by 1%. The results reflect improving financial performance as the automaker continues working toward restoring profitability.
North America Remains Central to Stellantis’ Recovery
North America continues to play a major role in Stellantis’ financial turnaround. The company recorded a $467 million net pricing gain in the region, supported by its American brands and a broad lineup of new products.
New launches, including the completely sold-out Ram Rumble Bee, are helping attract customers to showrooms. Stellantis is placing significant emphasis on its most profitable SUVs and trucks as it works to strengthen its financial position.
However, higher prices on domestic models remain a potential challenge as the company seeks to maintain customer demand while improving profitability.
European Price Competition Continues to Pressure Stellantis
Despite positive margins in North America and South America, Stellantis continues to face difficult conditions in Europe, where intense price competition contributed to a $345 million operating loss.
There were also signs of progress within the company’s portfolio. Luxury brand Alfa Romeo continued to grow despite the broader challenges facing the automaker.
Stellantis Targets Positive Free Cash Flow by 2027
Stellantis is pursuing an extensive financial restructuring effort, cutting costs while focusing on established truck and SUV nameplates that remain central to its business strategy.
CEO Antonio Filosa reaffirmed the company’s goal of returning to positive industrial free cash flow by 2027 during its third-quarter earnings call. The target remains a key milestone as the automaker works to improve its financial performance.
With its quarterly net loss narrowing by 90%, adjusted operating income rising sharply and industrial cost savings approaching $919 million, Stellantis has reported measurable progress toward financial recovery, although losses and regional challenges remain.
