The Toyota Avalon is returning with a new model in China, where the sedan remains part of the brand’s lineup despite its departure from the U.S. market. The updated Avalon is scheduled to launch on November 5, bringing exterior and interior changes along with gasoline and hybrid powertrain options.
New Toyota Avalon Gets Updated Exterior Design
The redesigned Avalon features a new front grille with vertical chrome slats, paired with Toyota’s C-shaped headlights, a design also seen on the Crown and Camry.
The sedan measures 4,990 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,440 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. It also receives newly designed wheels, while the rear lighting features a distinctive pattern and layout that separates the Avalon from other Toyota sedans.
Interior Adds Premium Features
The new Avalon’s cabin follows a wraparound design centered on a large infotainment screen. Other highlights include a head-up display and crystal trim, complemented by subtle two-tone piping on the seats and steering wheel.
Available comfort features include heated and ventilated seats, massage functions for front passengers and an in-car fragrance system.
Gasoline and Hybrid Powertrains
Toyota will offer the China-market Avalon with two powertrain options. The gasoline version uses a 2.0-liter engine producing 170 horsepower, matching the output of the current Avalon.
A 2.5-liter gasoline-hybrid system will also be available, delivering a combined 230 horsepower. The 2.0-liter engine is paired with a conventional CVT, while the hybrid uses a specialized e-CVT.
The updated Avalon will continue in China with refreshed styling, upgraded cabin features and both gasoline and hybrid options when it launches on November 5.
