The Ferrari 296 Challenge Stradale is expected to debut on November 21, bringing back the Italian automaker’s road-legal, track-focused tradition after more than 20 years. The new model is reportedly set to premiere during Ferrari’s Finali Mondiali event in Barcelona, with a starting price of €320,000, or approximately $358,000.

The upcoming sports car will revive a name last used on the 360 Challenge Stradale, offering enthusiasts a more focused driving experience inspired by Ferrari’s racing program.

Ferrari 296 Challenge Stradale Set for November Debut

Ferrari has spent more than 30 years building one-make racing championships for customers, beginning with the 348 Challenge in 1993. The program initially expanded across Europe before reaching North America and other regions.

Over the years, the racing cars evolved from the 348 Challenge to the F355 Challenge and subsequent models. In 2003, Ferrari introduced the 360 Challenge Stradale, a road-legal version of its race car designed for customers who wanted the experience without entering a championship.

The 360 Challenge Stradale was compared with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS from the 996.2 generation. While Porsche continued developing lightweight, stripped-down road-going 911s, Ferrari did not produce another Challenge Stradale.

That is expected to change with the 296 Challenge Stradale, which is reportedly scheduled to be unveiled at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during Finali Mondiali, taking place from November 17 to 23 as the conclusion of the 2026 Ferrari Challenge season.

The car is expected to be revealed on November 21, with pricing reportedly starting at €320,000.

Ferrari 296 Challenge Stradale: Expected Performance

The first Challenge Stradale model in more than two decades was spotted testing in February. The camouflaged prototype was seen driving through Maranello, featuring a distinctive aerodynamic package and a large rear wing.

One of the biggest expected changes involves the powertrain. The 296 Challenge Stradale reportedly will abandon the standard 296’s plug-in hybrid system, potentially bringing it closer to the 296 Challenge race car that has been competing on circuits worldwide for about three years.

Without the hybrid components, the road-going model is expected to weigh at least 300 pounds less. The car is also anticipated to retain some creature comforts, with its weight potentially approaching 3,000 pounds.

For comparison, the hybrid coupe weighs more than 3,500 pounds.

More Power Could Be on the Way

The 296 Challenge Stradale is expected to use Ferrari’s twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Initial estimates suggest output of around 690 horsepower, although rumors point to a possible figure of approximately 720 hp.

If the higher output proves accurate, the Stradale could produce more power than the 296 Challenge race car, despite the competition model’s significant weight advantage.

Ferrari could increase the engine’s output to compensate for the removal of electric assistance, potentially giving the road car a stronger performance profile while maintaining its track-focused character.

Ferrari’s Track-Focused Future

The 296 Challenge Stradale is expected to mark Ferrari’s return to a formula that combines racing-inspired performance with road legality. Its anticipated lighter weight, aggressive aerodynamics and powerful V6 engine would distinguish it from the standard hybrid 296.

Ferrari may also have additional track-focused models in development, with 2027 potentially bringing further developments for the automaker’s performance lineup.
