Mazda’s U.S. sales climbed 25% in October, approaching the automaker’s strongest October performance on record as buyers turned toward affordable, fuel-efficient vehicles. The company sold 31,446 vehicles during the month, with entry-level cars and several SUV models contributing to the gains.

Only October 2024 was stronger, when Mazda sold 37,307 vehicles.

Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback Drive Sales Growth

Mazda continues to offer vehicles priced around $30,000 and below as new-car affordability becomes increasingly challenging for American buyers.

The Mazda3 Sedan was a standout performer in October, with sales reaching 2,606 units, up 183.3% year over year. Year-to-date sales totaled 23,741 units, representing a 39% increase compared with the same period last year.

Starting at $24,650 and delivering up to 36 mpg on the highway, the compact sedan remains an affordable option for budget-conscious buyers.

The Mazda3 Hatchback also posted significant growth, with October sales rising 78.5% to 928 units. Through October, hatchback sales reached 12,279 vehicles, up about 70% from the same period a year earlier.

Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 SUVs Post Strong October Gains

Mazda’s larger SUVs recorded substantial year-over-year increases, although both remain behind their year-to-date sales totals from last year.

The two-row CX-70 saw sales jump 295.9% in October to 1,358 units. Mazda plans to discontinue the CX-70 nameplate and incorporate the two-row SUV into the CX-90 lineup for 2027.

The three-row CX-90 also delivered a strong month, with sales increasing 114.6% to 4,620 vehicles.

With starting prices around $40,000, the CX-70 and CX-90 continue to offer value in the midsize SUV segment, where mainstream models increasingly approach or exceed $50,000.

Despite October’s gains, CX-70 sales through the first 10 months of the year fell 12.3% to 12,599 units. CX-90 sales declined 15.5% to 39,619 vehicles over the same period.

Mazda has acknowledged that both SUVs need updates to attract more buyers and is working on a refresh, though the company has not announced a timeline.

Mazda CX-5 Remains the Brand’s Best-Selling SUV

The compact Mazda CX-5 led the automaker’s SUV lineup in October, recording 9,689 sales, up 7.9% from a year earlier.

Other crossover models experienced modest declines. Sales of the subcompact CX-30 fell 0.8%, while the compact CX-50 dropped 1.2%.

Mazda’s October Sales Approach Record Levels

Mazda’s 31,446 U.S. sales in October represented a 25% increase compared with October 2025, putting the automaker close to its best October on record.

Strong demand for the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, combined with sharp monthly gains for the CX-70 and CX-90, helped drive the results, even as several SUV models continued to face year-to-date declines.
