The BMW Z4 and Toyota GR Supra are no longer available as new cars in the United States, with nationwide inventory of both sports cars now exhausted. After ending production earlier this year, the two models have disappeared from new-car stock, leaving buyers interested in either vehicle with the used market as their only option.

BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra Disappear From Dealerships

New examples of the BMW Z4 and Toyota GR Supra are no longer available nationwide. Their departure marks the end of a collaboration that delivered two sports cars with different personalities and driving characteristics despite sharing much of their engineering.

Sales figures in 2025 were relatively modest. BMW sold 2,113 Z4 models, while Toyota delivered 2,953 examples of the Supra. Those low volumes likely contributed to the decision to end production without immediate successors for either car.

The highlight of both models was the turbocharged six-cylinder engine offered in their higher-performance versions. Producing 382 horsepower, the engine delivered strong performance and could be paired with a manual transmission in both cars.

The Supra offered a more precise and engaging driving experience, while the Z4 stood out for its BMW badge and more upscale finishes. Both models were also available with less expensive four-cylinder engines.

Over the years, BMW and Toyota introduced several special editions, particularly for the Supra. The outgoing model ended its run with the MkV Final Edition.

With both cars gone, enthusiasts looking for an affordable manual sports car with a six-cylinder engine have few alternatives beyond the Nissan Z.

BMW Has No Announced Successor for the Z4

BMW has not announced plans to develop or launch a replacement for the Z4. Its departure leaves the German automaker without a two-door roadster for the first time in many years, ending a model line that began with the original Z4 24 years ago.

New Toyota Supra Could Arrive in 2027 or 2028

There is more encouraging news for Toyota Supra fans. Rumors point to a new generation arriving in late 2027 or early 2028, although details about the upcoming model remain limited.

Unlike the outgoing car, the next Supra is expected to use a Toyota-developed powertrain rather than an engine shared with BMW. The anticipated setup is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with hybrid assistance, reportedly producing around 400 horsepower.

The possibility of a six-cylinder version and the continuation of a manual transmission remains uncertain. However, the expected next generation means the Supra nameplate may continue beyond the end of the current model.

For now, the BMW Z4 and Toyota GR Supra have disappeared from the new-car market, leaving used examples as the remaining option for buyers seeking either discontinued sports car.
