Cadillac is recalling nearly every Cadillac Vistiq recall-affected vehicle it has produced after identifying a safety issue involving the one-touch power-folding third-row seat. General Motors has filed a recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covering 14,540 three-row electric luxury SUVs from the 2026 and 2027 model years because the seat may not automatically reverse when it encounters an obstruction.
Cadillac Vistiq Recall Covers Nearly All Produced Vehicles
According to the recall campaign filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors is recalling a total of 14,540 Cadillac Vistiq SUVs.
- 2026 Cadillac Vistiq: 13,629 vehicles
- 2027 Cadillac Vistiq: 911 vehicles
GM said all of the recalled vehicles are believed to have the defect.
Third-Row Seat Defect Prompted the Recall
The recall involves the Vistiq’s one-touch power-folding third-row seat. According to GM, if the seat encounters an obstruction while folding, it does not automatically reverse.
The automaker warned that a smaller occupant, particularly a child, could become trapped if the seat continues folding after meeting an obstruction.
How the Issue Was Identified
The investigation began after another automaker issued a recall in March 2026 for a similar powered-seat issue. A GM engineer subsequently reported the Vistiq seat through the company’s internal Speak Up For Safety program.
During testing, engineers placed a box weighing between 33 and 40 pounds on the third-row seat. According to GM, the seatback continued folding until it pinned the box in a position that could not be cleared without manually reversing the mechanism.
GM said it has received six complaints related to the issue and is not aware of any injuries.
The March 2026 recall involving another manufacturer was linked to the death of a two-year-old in that manufacturer’s SUV, which GM said underscored the seriousness of its review.
Affected Production Window
The recall applies to Cadillac Vistiq vehicles built roughly between November 2024 and June 2026.
GM’s Repair Plan
Dealers will replace the third-row folding seat module with a redesigned component that automatically returns the seatback to its upright position if resistance is detected.
Until replacement parts become available, dealers can disable the third-row folding feature as an interim safety measure. GM noted that once the feature is disabled, there is no manual method to raise or lower the third-row seat, so owners should select the desired seat position before the feature is turned off.
GM also halted shipments of the 2027 Cadillac Vistiq on June 8 and instructed dealers to disable the folding feature before delivering any new vehicles. All recall repairs will be performed free of charge.
What Owners Should Do
Owners can contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 and reference recall number N262555780. They may also check their vehicle identification number using National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign number 26V394.
GM expects to begin mailing interim owner notification letters on Aug. 3, 2026. Replacement parts are expected to become available around the same time, allowing dealers to complete the permanent repair.
The recall addresses the third-row power-folding seat issue affecting nearly every Cadillac Vistiq produced within the specified model years, with GM offering a free repair and interim measures until redesigned components are available.
