Range Rover has unveiled a one-of-a-kind pairing that brings together its newest flagship and a meticulously restored 1993 Range Rover Classic. Created ahead of Monterey Car Week, the bespoke project will see the matching vehicles offered together as a single lot at RM Sotheby’s, showcasing the brand’s latest craftsmanship alongside one of its most recognizable heritage models.
A Bespoke Pair Spanning Two Generations
Range Rover commissioned a unique restoration of a 1993 Range Rover Classic to closely match the appearance and character of the new Range Rover SV Ultra. The project was completed by the brand’s Classic division as a bespoke commission rather than a typical restomod.
The restored Classic and the first U.S.-market Range Rover SV Ultra will be auctioned together as a matched pair during RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week sale, presenting both the brand’s heritage and its current design philosophy in a single offering.
Shared Design Inspired by the SV Ultra
The connection between the two SUVs begins with their exterior finish. The 1993 Range Rover Classic is painted in Titan Silver, the same color introduced on the SV Ultra. The finish uses fine aluminum flakes and advanced pigments to create a liquid-metal appearance.
The Classic also features 16-inch three-spoke wheels finished in Satin Platinum Atlas with diamond-turned rims, updated SV Ultra hood lettering, and the removal of the original side trim for a cleaner exterior design.
Under the hood, a plaque identifies the vehicle as the first bespoke matched-pair build created by the Classic division.
Interior Brings Modern Luxury to the Classic
The cabin continues the shared design theme. According to Range Rover, this is the first Classic model to feature Ultrafabrics, finished in the same Orchid White and Cinder Grey color combination used in the SV Ultra.
The dashboard, steering wheel, seats, and door panels all incorporate styling cues from the modern flagship, including laser-cut seat patterns and mosaic perforations. Brushed aluminum trim, matching speaker covers, and coordinated interior details complete the design while preserving the original character of the Classic.
Faithful Mechanical Restoration
Although the styling has been updated, the mechanical specifications remain true to the original vehicle. The donor vehicle was a U.S.-specification County Edition equipped with a 3.9-liter V8 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission.
Range Rover’s Classic team devoted approximately 2,000 hours to the restoration, covering fabrication, paintwork, upholstery, engineering, and additional restoration work.
The engine, transmission, suspension, steering system, and brakes were all rebuilt with the goal of maintaining the vehicle’s authentic driving experience.
Auction Details
The restored 1993 Range Rover Classic will not be sold separately. Instead, it will cross the auction block alongside the new Range Rover SV Ultra as a matched pair during RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction on Aug. 14.
Public previews are scheduled to begin on Aug. 12 at the Monterey Conference Center. Range Rover has not released a pre-sale estimate, leaving the final auction result to determine the value of this two-generation collector’s set.
