Mazda MX-5 Miata has worn a wide range of green paint finishes over its four generations, with several becoming defining features of special editions and limited-production models. British Racing Green Debuted on the 1991 Special Edition
The first-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) launched for the 1990 model year in four colors: Classic Red, Crystal White, Mariner Blue, and Silverstone.
For 1991, Mazda introduced the Special Edition, adding British Racing Green to the lineup. The non-metallic single-stage paint recalled classic British sports cars such as the MGB and Lotus Elan.

In 2011, Mazda introduced Spirited Green on several overseas special editions, including the Germany-only MX-5 Karai, the UK-market MX-5 Sport Black, and Japan’s MX-5 Black Tuned.
The editions shared black mirror caps, wheels, and retractable hardtops. In Japan and the United Kingdom, white and red were also available alongside Spirited Green.
