Bentley Torcal is giving fans a closer look at the brand’s first all-electric vehicle through a new teaser that highlights a modern interpretation of Bentley’s signature diamond motif. The EV is scheduled to be unveiled in London on Sept. 23 after Bentley shifted its all-electric target from 2030 to 2035.
Bentley Continues EV Rollout With the Torcal
As demand for electric vehicles softens, particularly in the ultra-luxury segment, Bentley has taken a measured approach to launching its first EV. More than halfway through the decade, the British automaker has only teased the Bentley Torcal after delaying its all-electric target from 2030 to 2035.
In a press release accompanying the latest teaser, Bentley said it will retain its signature diamond motif while reimagining it for the modern era. The approach mirrors how some automakers have carried recognizable design elements into their first electric models.
Historic Diamond Motif Returns on the Bentley Torcal
The Bentley Torcal will feature a floating diamond grille that pays tribute to a design first introduced about a century ago.
During the 1920s, Bentley used the diamond pattern in its wire-mesh radiator grilles to help protect tall radiators from stones and road debris. The motif later moved into the cabin, where it appeared on cross-hatched switches and brass controls.
In addition to its decorative appearance, the machined diamond pattern improved grip. The design has remained part of Bentley’s identity and continues to appear in the Continental GT’s interior.
Bentley Torcal Debut Set for September
Bentley will officially unveil the Bentley Torcal in London on Sept. 23. The model will become the company’s fourth core model line, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
The Torcal is expected to use Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric architecture, which also underpins the Porsche Cayenne Electric.
Market Conditions Remain in Focus
The report notes that how the Bentley Torcal performs against changing market demand remains to be seen. In the United States, hybrids are currently attracting stronger demand, while EV sales are showing signs of stabilizing after declining following the expiration of the federal EV tax credit in September 2025.
With its official unveiling scheduled for Sept. 23, the Bentley Torcal will mark the brand’s entry into the all-electric vehicle segment while introducing a new core model line built around Bentley’s longstanding diamond design theme.
