The 2027 Chevrolet Colorado is getting a notable comfort upgrade, with a new six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat available on select trims. The feature will mark a first for the current-generation Colorado, while a new turbocharged engine is also reportedly on the way.
New Power Passenger Seat Comes to Select Colorado Trims
Pickup trucks have traditionally been associated with rugged construction and firm rides, partly because their body-on-frame designs and suspension systems are built around work-focused duties. Automakers have increasingly offered trims and options aimed at making trucks more comfortable for everyday driving.
For the 2027 model year, Chevrolet is adding a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat to the Colorado. GM Authority reported the change, citing sources that also pointed to a new engine for the upcoming model year.
The power-adjustable passenger seat will be a first for the current-generation Colorado, but Chevrolet will not offer it across the entire lineup.
Colorado Z71 and ZR2 Get the Upgrade
According to the report, the new six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat will be available only on the Z71 and ZR2 trims. Both sit toward the upper end of the Colorado lineup, but they target different types of drivers.
The Z71 combines everyday comfort with off-road capability, while the ZR2 is aimed at more serious off-roading and trail use.
The power-adjustable seat will be offered through the optional Convenience Package III. As standard equipment, every 2027 Colorado trim, including the WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2, will receive a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat.
While the upgrade is not a major comfort feature compared with options such as massaging seats or suspension refinements, it adds convenience for passengers. The seat includes power lumbar control and allows occupants to adjust its fore-and-aft position electrically rather than using a manual lever.
2027 Colorado Also Reportedly Gets a New Engine
The passenger-seat update is not the only reported change for the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado. The pickup is also expected to receive a new turbocharged 2.7-liter L4B inline-four engine.
The engine will replace the current 2.7-liter turbocharged L3B, which produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Output figures for the new engine have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Colorado’s larger truck sibling, the Silverado, is set to introduce two of General Motors’ new Gen 6 small-block V8 engines.
2027 Chevrolet Colorado Production and Pricing
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado is expected to begin in October, although pricing has not yet been announced.
For comparison, the outgoing 2026 model starts at $32,400 for the WT trim, while the flagship ZR2 starts at $50,700. Both prices exclude destination charges.
With the new passenger-seat option and a reportedly new engine, the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado is set to bring updates to both comfort and powertrain offerings while retaining its range of trims from the WT through the ZR2.
