Tesla is developing a major new Supercharger site in New York City that is planned to include between 64 and 68 individual stalls. The large charging hub in Maspeth, Queens, would become one of the largest Supercharger installations on the Eastern Seaboard if it reaches its maximum planned capacity.
New Tesla Supercharger Site Planned for Queens
The new Tesla Supercharger hub is planned for 48-26 54th Road in Maspeth, Queens, near I-495. Its location is positioned to serve drivers traveling toward Long Island as well as commuters heading into Manhattan.
If the site reaches 68 stalls, it would tie the existing station in Halifax, North Carolina, for the title of the largest Supercharger on the entire Eastern Seaboard.
The scale of the planned installation would also provide additional charging capacity in the New York City area, where space for large charging sites is limited.
Why Tesla Is Building Outside Manhattan
Manhattan currently has five Superchargers, and those locations are often constrained, with some offering only four plugs per site. Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx provide more available space for larger charging installations.
The need for larger sites has also grown as brands such as Dodge and Jeep have joined the fold, increasing the number of non-Tesla users who can access the Supercharger network.
Two Pull-Through Stalls for Trailers
The planned Queens location will include two dedicated pull-through stalls designed specifically for vehicles towing trailers.
The configuration is intended to accommodate larger towing setups without requiring drivers to unhitch a camper or work trailer to reach the charging cable.
Tesla Expands Charging Capacity in Urban Areas
The planned installation is part of Tesla’s continued expansion of its charging footprint along high-traffic travel routes. The company is also working to address long lines by using app updates designed to manage user flow.
Alongside the physical expansion, Tesla is refining its digital charging experience with a smart virtual waitlist system. The planned 68-stall hub in Queens combines expanded charging capacity with software designed to manage demand at busy locations.
With between 64 and 68 stalls planned, the Maspeth Supercharger would represent a significant addition to Tesla’s charging network in the New York City area and could tie the largest Supercharger station on the Eastern Seaboard if built at full capacity.
