Stellantis is recalling 848,511 vehicles in the U.S. after identifying a radio software issue that could cause the rearview camera image to fail to display. The recall affects multiple 2026-27 models from the Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler brands.

Vehicles Affected by the Stellantis Recall

More than 15 Stellantis model variants are included in the recall. The affected vehicles are:

  • 2026-27 Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager minivans
  • 2026-27 Dodge Charger vehicles
  • 2026 Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L and Wrangler vehicles
  • 2026 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups and ProMaster and ProMaster EV vans

The recall is still in its early stages and has not yet been published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Stellantis also has not stated whether the problem occurs intermittently or whether it affects only certain trims.

Stellantis Plans Over-the-Air Software Fix

Stellantis says the issue can be addressed through an over-the-air software update, meaning affected owners will not appear to need a dealer visit. Drivers should watch the media screen for a prompt when the update becomes available.

Starting in September, recall notices will be mailed to affected owners. In the meantime, drivers can contact Stellantis customer care at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.

If the rearview camera image disappears, drivers should use caution while backing up because reduced visibility could increase the chances of hitting another vehicle or pedestrian.

Stellantis is unaware of any accidents or injuries linked to the recall.

Third-Largest Stellantis Recall of 2026

The 848,511-vehicle recall ranks as Stellantis’ third-largest recall so far in 2026. The automaker has issued 27 recalls this year, with only two affecting more vehicles.

  • 1. Improperly installed seat belt buckle anchor: 1,271,294 vehicles, July 30, 2026
  • 2. Power steering wiring could catch fire: 1,076,999 vehicles, June 4, 2026
  • 3. Radio software/rearview camera image: 848,511 vehicles, August 17, 2026
  • 4. Inoperative trailer lighting and trailer brake failure: 456,287 vehicles, February 2, 2026
  • 5. Side airbags may not deploy properly: 419,035 vehicles, May 21, 2026

Among those five recalls, the power steering wiring issue included a fire risk warning involving the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator. Stellantis has been sued after a Gladiator caught fire in Illinois, which is one of 10 alleged fires linked to these vehicles.

Stellantis Recalls Trail Ford in 2026

Stellantis may have the second-highest number of U.S. recalls this year, but its 27 recalls remain well below Ford’s total. Ford has announced 63 recalls for 2026 so far.
