A 2026 Toyota Prius LE has reached 100,000 miles after just eight months on the road, giving the current-generation car an unusually demanding early-life durability test. Owner Shane Somers says the Prius is running great and still looks nearly new despite the intense mileage.
Prius Reaches 100,000 Miles in Eight Months
Somers operates a medical supply transportation business that delivers critical items to hospitals and nursing homes. Last year, he put 110,000 miles on a new Land Cruiser before moving on to the Prius.
After previously sharing his experience with the high-mileage Land Cruiser, Somers followed up last week with an update on his latest vehicle.
“My 2026 Toyota Prius LE reached 100,000 miles today. I’ve owned the vehicle for eight months now, and it took over for my trusty Land Cruiser not that long ago, it seems,” Somers reported.
According to Somers, the Prius is running great and still looks pretty much mint. Even the driver’s seat, despite countless hours of use, remains in pretty good condition.
2026 Toyota Prius LE Maintenance Record
The Prius has required the following maintenance during its first 100,000 miles:
- 10 oil changes
- 13 tire rotations
- 3 engine air filters
- 3 cabin air filters
- 1 engine coolant/inverter service
- 1 set of tires, with 5 flats on the factory tires and none with the Goodyear Assurance tires
- 1 alignment
- 1 set of front wipers replaced
Outside of the standard prescribed maintenance, Somers reported 100,000 miles of drama-free driving.
High-Mileage Prius Shows Little Trouble So Far
The first few years of a vehicle’s life are generally when it is at its strongest. Bushings and metals have not yet been decayed by the environment, helping the vehicle remain insulated against the road and outside air.
Even so, the experience of a car accumulating such heavy mileage so early in its life provides an unusual look at how it is holding up. In the case of Somers’ 2026 Toyota Prius LE, the car appears to be doing just fine so far.
