The 1986 Chevrolet Kodiak featured on Finnegan’s Garage is now for sale on Bring a Trailer, giving buyers a chance to own a massive crew-cab hauler previously owned by Mike Finnegan. The truck features an enclosed cargo bed designed to carry cars, along with a 10.4-liter turbocharged diesel V8.

A Massive 1986 Chevrolet Kodiak

The seller reportedly purchased the truck from Mike Finnegan, known for Roadkill and Finnegan’s Garage, in 2022. The heavy-duty Chevrolet would already be notable on its own, but its connection to Finnegan adds another layer to its history.

The scale of the truck is difficult to miss. Its wheelbase measures 254 inches, while the enclosed cargo area provides 300 inches of interior space. The cargo box stands 11 feet and 8 inches tall, not including the roof-mounted air-conditioning unit.

Built to Carry Cars

The 1986 Chevrolet Kodiak has an extended four-door cab with enough seating for more than just the people accompanying the vehicles it carries. Captain’s chairs are positioned up front, while a bench seat sits at the rear of the cab.

Power is sent through a five-speed Spicer manual transmission, paired with an Eaton two-speed rear end. The combination helps move the substantial truck and its enclosed hauler body.

10.4-Liter Caterpillar Diesel Power

Under the hood is a 10.4-liter Caterpillar 3208T diesel V8. The “T” indicates that the engine is turbocharged, although its output remains a modest 250 horsepower despite the engine’s large displacement.

Previous Owners Include Boyd Coddington

Before the truck was owned by the seller or Mike Finnegan, it reportedly belonged to hot-rod designer Boyd Coddington and Jim DeFrank of California Car Cover.

DeFrank used the Chevrolet as a promotional vehicle, and photographs from its time at the company’s storefront are included with the listing. At 38 feet long, the truck effectively served as a rolling billboard for the business.

1986 Chevrolet Kodiak Auction Ends August 18

The opportunity to buy the 1986 Chevrolet Kodiak ends today, August 18. The sale could continue differently if the truck fails to meet its reserve and a buyer makes an offer that the seller cannot resist.
