The 2027 Chevy Silverado WT gains major technology, safety and powertrain updates as Chevrolet strengthens its entry-level full-size pickup for fleet, commercial and work-focused buyers.
Built for Work, Not Luxury
The Work Truck remains at the bottom of the Silverado lineup, emphasizing durability and value rather than premium features. Instead of leather or Alcantara, the cabin uses hard-wearing, easy-to-clean surfaces, including on the floor.
Buyers can choose between cloth and leatherette seats, both finished in black. Outside, the WT maintains a simple appearance with small wheels and black exterior trim, while standard LED headlights and taillights add modern equipment.
The Work Truck remains closely associated with fleet use and is popular among commercial buyers and aftermarket upfitters.
More Technology Comes Standard
Chevrolet is bringing significant technology upgrades to the 2027 Silverado, including the Work Truck. The base model now features a 16.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, matching the screen setup available on higher trims.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, along with multiple USB connections.
Expanded Standard Safety Equipment
The 2027 Chevy Silverado WT also receives a substantial list of standard safety features. Equipment includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors.
The standard safety package also includes rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera and GM’s vibrating Safety Alert Seat.
Updated Engines for 2027
Chevrolet has revised the Silverado’s powertrain lineup for the 2027 model year. The updated 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder remains the standard engine in the WT and is now paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The lineup also adds two new V8 engines and the iconic 3.0-liter turbo-diesel Duramax.
Chevrolet Makes Other Lineup Changes
GM is making cuts elsewhere in its lineup, discontinuing the Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD and 6500 HD this year. The company is also pulling the Chevrolet brand from the Chinese market.
Despite those changes, the Silverado 1500 remains one of Chevrolet’s most important products. The updated Work Truck brings significant technology, safety and powertrain changes to the entry-level model while maintaining its focus on commercial and work-oriented buyers.
